Very impressive, better scrimshaw than I could manage with my gimpy hands, what did use for colouring it?

Will probable get better when I figure out which tool is best and find a good technique. For the coloring I just used a pencil to fill the pattern and then quickly sanded down the rest just to be able to see the carving. Its not finished as I need some oil paint or something to color it with. Antler is very hard so it was not easy to get "clean" lines. But practice makes perfect I guess.Sent fra min FRD-L09 via Tapatalk

So I have have gotten in to sort of a knife "making" hobby. As I live in an apartment I cant really make my own knife blades so I buy the blades and make the handles myself. I dont have a goal, just as a hobby to keep my hands busy when I get bored.
That looks nice RF,Are you going to make a sheath? What oil will you use on the handle? (I use linseed oil on most things)

Be very careful, that's how it started for me! Well done!

Spot on, fortunately I started just before I discovered this place, so I can't blame them for that I think it's just natural progression that next you will want to make the whole knife at some stage, enjoy the ride

Someday I will make a sheath, but I am not really sure how I'm gonna do it so will probably wing it. I have a can of danish oil that looked really nice on another handle I made so I'm just gonna stick to that.Sent fra min FRD-L09 via Tapatalk
looks great to me!I'd sure prefer using this rather than the tape handle fix...
