They even joked about winning awards for an "unscripted" tv show back in the day, while obviously there is a script.....they try to make it entertaining.

IMO when they manage to make it seem unscripted, that's where they start winning.

Take the river crossing during the Columbia special.......obviously contrived, but so what?! How great is building a bridge using the one car.....not like it's CGI!

I finally watched the first two episodes.

Regarding the drag race at the end of Episode one.... WTF?

If you have to spend over an hour setting the car up, shouldn't you at least get a better lead than that?

Otherwise, pretty cool.  :D

I am excited to watch the second half of the Columbia episode- it looks like a good old fashioned Top Gear adventure, and I do so enjoy those!

The Dune buggy thing last season was cool, but they were too closely matched.  It's nice to see them in totally different vehicles again, even if Clarkson did make the obvious choice for it.  Although I think if I was trying to film jaguars in the wild I may have opted for something with a top!   :ahhh

While taking so long to get ready, keep in mind the demon is factory 840 HP, vs the aftermarket tuned 1000 HP Camaro...

That may be, but the Demon is factory tuned rather than aftermarket tuned.  And, the ethanol heavy fuel used would make a huge difference in it's own right.

Not to mention how much further ahead the Camaro would be in the hour and a half that it took the Demon to get ready.

so, based on the time it takes to get ready, is the Demon male or female?  :)

True, I'm assuming the results would have been reversed had he been allowed to street race.

Still, it kinda feels like the camaro is akin to pulling the engine from a demon and dropping it into a dart or something similar.

I imagine this was exactly the reason Dodge wouldn't allow it to race on the street.

it's a shame that TGT is only for Amazon Prime users (and people like me who just watch whatever episodes are available on youtube or can be found floating around on the dark web). Just like RoadKill and Dirt Every Day pulled off youtube and is now only available in MotorTend on Demand, where you can only watch a few episodes and not even the latest without having some paywall in your face.

I have tried watching the new TopGear, but they are just trying way too hard to copy Jeremy Clarksons humor in it ...which just makes it annoying to watch.

The only other good car show that doesn't involve a bunch of bearded and tattooed guys "making custom cars" and forcing you to watch their fake drama and arguments, is wheeler dealers...sadly Edd China left it, and the guy who replaced him "Ant" does an okay job for being Edd's replacement, but a lot of the "good advice" he gives are based on you having a whole garage with like 100.000 euros full of tools and equipment and then; yes you can save money on fabricating something yourself rather than buying it, but no ordinary person has that ....Edd Chinas advice was a lot more relatable.

Not seen Wheeler Dealers without Ed

Not seen Top Gear without Clarkson/May/Hammond

Last Fast N Loud I saw Aaron had left. (His new show Shifting Gears isn't great, plus 2 EPs per build, only 6 EPs per season, there are 2 seasons)

I think I'm a season behind on Misfit Garage (Ex- GMG crew, at least it was at the start...)

Totally lost on Graveyard Carz... I think I'm now several seasons behind, and I only really watched it for the mopars, the drama kinda ruined it for me

Recently rediscovered Vegas Rat Rods, kinda digging their less polished builds.

Watched the 6th episode, fascinating, the largest city you've never heard of.........

Funny how something small can spoil something for you, in the drive-through door shop one of them spots a solid Rosewood door..........

My country, as well as Angola and Mozambique are being plundered of Rosewood and others, they are literally turning the most beautiful parts of my country into a desert.

Thousands of years of growth gone and not even 0,1% of the value stays behind

Nice doors though.....  >:(

What was the car they built? Something with a name or a custom made for the show?

I believe it had a lot of Land Rover parts, including the engine. Form what I understood it would be an older model

My mother had a Ford Escort 1600 Sport......with banana branches.

Had many firsts in that car, doughnuts, power slides...........and drunk driving

At some point later in the 14th episode I had a nostalgic tear in my eye thinking back to that Escort......

......when they cut back to the tent and Clarkson had tears in his eyes and couldn't talk

Absolutely- I will miss Conversation Street... and yes, even the intros to it!

I love the back and forth between the three of them, and I will absolutely miss that part of it, as the back and forth is a lot different in the  adventures, but then no one goes back to watch the review of an Audi they did in Series 14, do they?  But, we go back and watch the Polar Expedition, or launching the Reliant into space etc.

The last Grand Tour Special called Sand Job is going to be released on February 16th.

I wonder if it will be good like the Beach Buggy Boys or boring like A Massive Hunt?
