Worth grabbing?
on: December 16, 2017, 05:19:41 PM
Looks like a Workchamp.
Tools opened look genuine but the large blade seems to be on the corkscrew side?
Nailnick is on the other side as images online too?
Seller is asking €25.
It shouted out to me because it's a UN Disaster Assessment and Coordination one with UN logo sheath.

The blade is in the right position if it´s a slide lock version.

Me? No. I sold my Workchamp because I don´t need most of the tools.

There are all sorts of sharp edges on that. I'd leave it alone if I were you.

The pliers and the cap lifter look wrong. I would say made in China knock off.
Jeep the SAK of the auto world or is it SAK the Jeep of the Knife world?

It is sold as "pocket knife" while other offerings from the same seller are sold as "Victorinox" so the flags you guys raise might be in place.
Didn't see any tang stamp on the pictures either...

Maybe the pouch and scales are worth E 25? I mean if you´re into this kind of thing.

Nah.
I'll only buy genuine Vic or Wenger.

Just noticed that the logo isn't centered on the pouch either...

I was kidding - of course you should get it! A Swisschamp for 25 bucks is a bargain.
True the pliers look a bit weird. But maybe they've been heavily abused. I've never seen a Chinese Champ before. Or any other 111mm for that matter.

The pin on pliers is the wrong size and the cap lifter is liner lock size on a slide lock model. I've seen pics of the Chinese workchamp and that's what they look like.

Me neither, but this one is fake for sure. First fake 111mm i've ever seen. And the UN buys it?

Yep Gene is probably right. The pliers are usually the biggest clue.
There's something odd about everything else but it's hard to say exactly what, based on one photo.
Damn fakes!

Oh there are more clues in this one ;)

Main blade nailnick on the wrong side. There is a liner between metal and wood saw where AFAIK there shouldn't be one.

Oh wait.. you need more pictures to see that last one; here's the ad:

There are quite a few fake Rescue Tools in circulation. Grant wrote an article about it but I can´t find it right now.

I had been looking at this one myself today, and couldn't figure out if it was worth to go and meet the seller to have a closer look (it's only a 20 minutes drive away from my home).  Since the pliers looked wrong to me.

Guess who's name came up  when I checked the seller's reviews ...  :pok:

After checking his post here on MTO from around the time of the review I found that this seller must be the one that send you the bladeless Gerber MP600 BO, after the Swisstool got lost in the mail, right Nick ?

It's not the first time I've seen your name on 2hands.be, I wanted to send you a PM to tell you about this "SAK", but by the time I figured out it was probably a fake, you had already started this topic ...  ::)

I'll let you be my middle man next time then :pok:
It was also the seller who offered a Charge at €35... so in case you grabbed it before me, I'll happily buy it from you for €40

Yes! Completely right!
And it didn't leave the drawer after I carried it once...

How about €50 for that Charge ...  :pok:

No, just kidding, it wasn't me  ;).

I already own enough Charge's, I've got my Charge Tti, and two AL's for myself, and two AL's for my boys.  Okay, one of my two AL's was originally intended for my daughter, but after Tim signed/engraved one of them I put that one in my collection, and use the other for EDC from time to time.  No worries, my girl is only 20 months old, so I've got enough time to find her something else, and I already have a pink "first Vic" and a purple 2016 Pioneer (her birthyear SAK) for her  :D.
