Do you get buyer's remorse
on: December 16, 2017, 06:07:55 PM
Do you start researching after an impulse buy, do you try to get your purchase validated by asking others, do you feel empty after the excitement of the purchase??

I get buyers remorse even with significant research sometimes and I try to research the heck out of stuff. Often the lack of 'on hands' purchasing that world wide shopping requires makes that inevitable.

Not typically but I have, I'm a cheap Smurf and usually only buy things when they are at smurf it prices.

Though most recently I had a reel that I got "buyers" remorse for. But it was a gift I adamantly requested. Did my research, bought from a brand I've used and loved, and it still just doesn't meet my expectations. I'm pretty bummed.
I'm a total legend..... in my own mind- Herley

I think we need some more answer categories e.g.
- Occasionally
- Sometimes
- If I make a mistake
- Only if it does nor meet expectations
???

Unless you are keeping it black and white  ... never good for me  ;)

I bought some crappy stuff in the past. I won´t do it again, but I think in this case remorse is a pretty senseless emotion.

I tend to be fairly stingy with the amount of stuff I buy, and over think the stuff I do buy, so I don't get buyer's remorse usually...

+1
Completely agree.

Sometimes I'm like "damn, why did I buy that?" Or "I overpaid for that".
Yet sometimes I see something interesting, only to think about it again a week later and see it's already  gone. Almost missed the chance of purchasing our house like that! :ahhh
I didn't mention the house again because I thought my gf wasn't interested, while she thought I wasn't interested and we were a month after the viewing!

Sometimes, but not often and not recently.  The gratification of getting something new and shiny can wear off quite quickly perhaps, but that's not the same as regretting the purchase completely.

When I pay big bucks for a tool and it arrives needing hours of restoration, even though it was sold as "great" condition. Once in a blue moon a seller will do the right thing and offer a partial refund, but sometimes they are just smurf-heads about it. I seek out and buy oddities and rarities, so sometimes I have to eat dirt to get what I want. :ahhh

I get it all the time.  Mostly it passes, but sometimes it just lingers on and I end up never liking the item I bought (even though I desperately wanted it in the first place)  :-\

I tend to buy at what I feel are fair prices.  Usually the items meet or exceeds my expectations so thats always a good thing.  I rarely buy impulsively or without doing my part in researching price and comparable items.  I never spend without having the money to do so.  By nature I am frugal and take exceptional care whether I buy so things tend to last.  So to answer the question as is I can say almost never do I have buyers remorse.

Occasionally for me too. Now it is rare, because I do a lot of internet research before I buy and forums like this one help me a lot.

What am I saying. There's no forum like this one. The rest just help me buy things.

Buyers remorse, not often.

But in the last couple of months I do feel an increasing amount of sellers remorse about 7 bitcoins I sold a couple of years ago  :wait:

Bought them when they were about $ 60 per bitcoin and sold them around $ 600 per bitcoin because at that moment I thought that was really a lot of money for something that useless

Simple economics will tell you this cannot last. The bitcoin price is rising because of high demand, not because of its intrinsic value. This bubble is going to blow sooner or later.

With the knowledge you have now, you might have been tempted to hold on to your bitcoins too long, and lose your entire investment.

Since he spent ~€400 for his 7 bitcoins, you could say that he didn't have much to lose, from an investment standpoint.....

The lesson I learnt here(I will endeavor to use it in my life at least once :salute:) is that in a similar situation, I'd sell maybe half of them, and keep the other half "just in case".
Even if I lose everything with the half I kept, I still made a tidy few bucks from selling the first half?

(Please tell me if this is stepping on toes or something)

Nope :D Because of the prices of knives/MTs/lights in my country, it usually takes me a lot of time to "get the courage" to actually buy something  And if I've really wanted something for a long time, I don't regret buying it at all :D

So, buyer's remorse - no; "pre-buying depression" - yes
