Usually they think the whole thing is a screen full of pixels that they can play some nasty game on, and the more they are allowed to carry on like this, the worse they get. Like schoolyard bullies, only without the in-person consequences. Most forum moderators catch on pretty quickly, but some trolls are pretty clever too, but not in a good way.

Anyway, trolls suck, and for the most part MTO has been mostly free of them.
