That's a sweet knife Microbe! :tu:

Thanks.
I recall having to stay up extremely late to get in to the very short timeframe these popped up to buy one.
I'ts a shame Victorinox doesn't do these limited runs anymore...

:iagree:

Why don't they have a lanyard attachment though? Would seem logical on a boat.

Maybe because they are soldier derived? Soldiers did not have a lanyard attachment as opposed to the civilian pioneer ranges.

I referenced that knife in a post several years ago.

It's one of the best that I've ever seen.

Congrats.

I could be mistaken,as my wife reminds me,but isn't that a sack or sacking needle?

Scales are very solid and dense plastic. It's a nice knife. If you want to have a play with one you're welcome to try before you buy with mine. It has the exclusive 'Mags/Hiraethus' sheepfoot blade   :tu:

Hey, thanks for your kind offer.
I might come back to it
It is an interesting knife. Is the sheepfoot blade not standard?

However, I think I need to get my tool-wishes/needs thoughts sorted first. I've seen to many BO PST lately  :ahhh

Lol. No, I modified the blade - it's a bit of a weird spear point factory blade that I didn't like. Its quite a thick bkade too which is very pleasing.

Anyway, its here if and when you want a play  :salute:

Here are a few newer ones I haven't yet posted in this thread (top to bottom):

Myerchin Gen 2 Titanium Crew - Easy to OHO (via the shackle key/thumb hole) and OHC and weighing only 2.4 ounces on my scale, this little knife is a joy to carry and perhaps one of the lightest weight options out there that features a marlinspike.  The small size and frame locks make it not quite as comfortable in the hand as some other options, however.  Both blade and spike lock.

Myerchin Gen 2 Captain (G10) - Very fast and easy to OHO; use the flipper in conjunction with a flick of the wrist, and the blade flies open and locks with a satisfying clack.  Easy to OHC, and the larger handle is a better fit for my larger hands than the smaller Crew version.  One major downside of this knife in my opinion is the weight; coming in at 6.8 ounces on my scale, you certainly won't forget you're carrying it.  Both blade and spike lock.

Colonial Riggers Knife - I'm really impressed with the quality of this piece; fit and finish are very good.  It's a classically styled riggers knife with some more modern materials (stainless steel, and the scales are some sort of injection-molded plastic, maybe Zytel).  The tip of the spike is very sharp (actually sharp enough to be used as an awl), which is an interesting contrast with the more rounded tips of the Myerchins.  The spike locks open, but the blade does not.  A bit on the heavy side at 5.1 ounces on my scale, but this is a serious working tool, not a glorified letter opener.  For those who like a lanyard or the ability to tie the knife to something to prevent loss, the shackle key makes for a very solid attachment point (assuming you don't plan to use it too often as a shackle key); it is certainly a much better option than the bent little piece of wire that passes for a lanyard attachment point on the Myerchins.  The only negative I see is that it isn't OHO.

I have one of Myerchin's "stand alone" Marlin Spikes. It's beautifully finished and came with a leather sheath just like a knife would. A real quality product.

Never thought to include my riggers in forum but I guess they are multi tools, right.
Had a couple for many years.
Some good,
Some not so,
These days,  I'm only using the SOG/West Marine as a paracord tool.

I agree.  This Myerchin Gen 2 Titanium Captain is my most carried marlin spike knife.  OHO, OHC, pocket clip, and marlin spike…not a lot of options out there checking all those boxes.

I included the first gen Myerchin A377P in the combo edge challenge.  Not quite as convenient as the newer model with its liner locks, because the first generation knives unlock by pressing on the shackle. It is, however, still a useable knife that weighs less than most comparable sized knives even with the added benefit of having the marlin spike.  Check out my day 24 post (today's post) in the Combo Edge challenge where I did what I call the Castaway portion of the challenge and used the A377P to open a coconut.

Nice!

I do wish I’d picked up some of the gen 1 when they were still readily available.

I see them on E-bay all the time.  Just be warned, the Myerchin warranty only covers the original, registered owner, so if you buy a used one and you break it you'll just have to buy another one. :pok:

Yes indeed! The only thing I wish is that myerchin would make them in the states, that or Europe
