Thanks  :salute:

I completed 5 knives, will post some more pics including better ones of the tanto.

Blade steel is leaf spring, guard is obviously brass but I might add my best solder job to date.....second torch gave the needed quick heat.
Handle is linen that I dyed black, pins are 6mm brass.

The knife is extremely light and fast in the hand.....and extremely pokey

A good friend challenged me to make this knife, he bought it and Kukri which is a great boost for my grinder fund

The Kukri was also a huge success, I compared it to my previous Kukri and I trimmed the weight by 110g by doing the draw filing on the newest one.  It is deadly sharp and for a Kukri with an 8mm spine extremely light in hand  :gimme:

that looks  :o
I havo no use for larger tantos but I'm a sucker for the fixed blade Tantos that made Cold Steel famous and this one is a really sexy reincarnation of those.
It looks sharp indeed  :tu:

I'd like pics of that Kukri, I'm also a sucker for Kukris   :D

Excellent work  :salute:

Thanks  :salute:

I've been  over the Cold Steel tantos for years, this knife was indeed inspired by them, and thanks to a few happy accidents turned out with very nice lines.
A small fight broke out between 3 friends about who gets to buy it, and I badly wanted to claim it was to flawed to sell  Working freehand I'm never assured of the result, but I do know I need to make myself one someday

Will post some more photos this afternoon/evening  :salute:

Kukri IV

This one is from the same piece of leaf spring as my previous (keeper) Kukri.......Yin&Yang arrangement

First the handle.
I'm going to spice things up my making micarta composite handles in the future, the results are worthwhile and just as durable I believe.

On this one I used the leftover black Linen micarta from the tanto for bolster and pommel, and made a piece of solid brown micarta from old SADF uniforms I was given for the "scale".
All of these were laminated together with red liners....excuse the bad photo:

Thanks Steve

Unfortunately the shiny ones will never see much use, but few weeks ago on my cousin's farm I really enjoyed beating the living smurf out of my Kukri  :like:

I was harvesting several types of wood including rock-hard Camelthorn from old fence posts. I hit ground several times, used it as a lever, and it just begs for more  :salute:

Those are pretty blades right there.
It's the second one from the left made to be wielded in P'Kal grip (edge out) or is that just a swedge all along the spine?
Looks amazingly weird in that pic  :tu:

Now I see what you mean!  No, that's a swedge on the spine.  :salute: The knife is however very comfortable in both grips.
It has a bit of a story which I will get to

Been bad about posting more pics, but as soon as I can pull my finger out I have a treat for my fellow knife-aholics from the weekend
