Gun user badge request
on: January 05, 2018, 05:11:27 AM
Don't know the best forum to put this, so trying here.

Me and some friends hit the range today. I didn't have the merit badge requirements in mind, so maybe the pics don't count, but there are way more than two guns present and you can see the targets down range ;)

Some of the gun:
Ruger LCR in .38 special revolver
Ruger LCP in .380 auto pistol
Colt .380 auto pistol
Taurus Millennium 9mm pistol
Smith and Wesson M&P 9mm pistol
Smith and Wesson M&P shield 9mm pistol
Henry Big Boy .45 long colt rifle
Taurus the Judge .45 colt revolver
And one other pistol in .40 S&W that I didn't shoot

It was a fun hour :D

If the trees blew down the wind and no one was around, would the alphabet song really go backwards?

It can be pretty different.  It seems like the larger the gun and the smaller the caliber of the round, the less recoil and more "easy it is to shoot." For instance, the colt .380 is a bit heavier and larger gun than the Ruger LCP .380 so it's a little easier to shoot and control. Similarly the Henry rifle is a much more pleasurable gun to shoot the .45 colt round than the Taurus revolver. The revolver isn't as bad as getting your hand shut in a car door, but it's not exactly pleasant.

Somewhat counter intuitively, the larger framed hand guns are sometimes easier to control and shoot than the smaller ones. I find the full sized 9mm's like the S&W M&P to be easier to shoot than the smaller .380's, even though the .380 is a smaller and less powerful round (the .380 is a 9mm short (Kurtz?)).

Now I'm no expert on these things, this is just what I've found from shooting a few different types.
