NOS Sideclips and Tool Adapters
on: January 08, 2018, 03:35:14 PM
I've just been to collect a package.

2 boxed Sideclips, and a Tool Adapter in the plastic case with leather sheath included.

Rc-machines in Luxembourg have these on their website. I got the Sideclips for 34 Euro each, the Tool Adapter for 19.90 Euro. Postage to the UK was a bit steep at 23.70 Euro, but I'm not complaining at those prices.
 :multi:

I came across their website on a random googling of Sideclip. It's my favourite tool. (I now have 6!).

The Sideclips are the earlier unpolished ones, and both have the date code 0298 on am scales.

They still have these in stock...

Here's a pic. I couldn't attach it to my first post because it was too big.

I've cut it down to size.

Looking at the Leatherman Production Timeline thread it seems Sideclip production began in 1998.

So with the date code on these at 0298 it looks like I've picked up some very early ones.

Does anybody know the earliest date code?

Anyone got a 0198?

 :)

Interesting. My oldest before these has 3 scales stamped 0398, and one 0298.

According to my spreadsheet the oldest one has the same date on all 4 handle components: 0298/0298,  0298/0298,
While the most recent one is dated: 1203/0104, 0104/0204

Yeah, the shipping is steep. I've had stuff shipped to the UK from the US at a small fraction of the cost. They should and could do it cheaper.

Pity it is Europe shipping only. Even at that price if it was to Oz I would get some.

the problem is not so much the total cost, as the fact that you know the shipping cost is unreasonable

I will ask if they can do lower shipping..

I've put in another order to to rc-machines, which I got today.

This included a Crunch at €79.90. Interestingly it's NOS like the sideclip with an 0999 date code

I asked them for lower shipping and they said they could not do it.  It is a shame as I would have bought a few things from them.

My work around was to buy enough stuff that the shipping averaged out at a reasonable amount.

I'm probably penny wise and pound foolish.

Me too, however they don't ship outside the EU. I'll be over there later this year, but I think they will be all bought up by then. I'll still see...

BUT, maybe I keep my pennies for the SAK factory.  ;)

Here's a pic. I couldn't attach it to my first post because it was too big.

I've cut it down to size.

I like those boxes. The colors and texts are so much prettier than the boring yellow boxes they have nowadays. Those old boxes make a really big jump in price on secondary market between NOS vs NIB vs NWOB.

I bought an original leather PST sheath on eBay once, and when it came it came in an original PST box, which was nice. They'd not mentioned that they had the box in the listing.
