Mini Sheath Alternative?
on: January 13, 2018, 06:18:38 PM
I like carrying the Mini Tool on my belt, it makes it more accessible, and less prone to getting lost.  However, I'm using the (scarce) original sheath.

Is there any sheaths being produced that will fit the Mini Tool? I was thinking Zippo, but those are too wide and too thin.  Would my only option be having one made (or more fun, doing it myself)?

Thanks Steve... though this is only really an option in North America I think, the $15.25 ($13.75 shipping included) we'd have to pay over here is a little bit steep
Cheers!

The tiny skinths are probably the best option, or those Schrade small sheaths.
Also, the Workpro scissors come in a sheath that fits the Mini-Tool perfectly (the scissors MT exists also as Craftsman and other brands).

I bought a $5 walmart sheffield mt to get the decent looking sheath it came with. Fits the mini perfectly.  The mt is one of those junky ones with finger nail clippers on them for a key chain.
Some cheap mini multis have bad sheaths, but others have good sheaths.

Some seat belts out of a scrap yard car, and half an hour or so of cutting and sewing, and you can have a sheath for almost anything in exactly the size you need. :salute:

Another option is the nice little Zippo pouch at CountyComm....

https://countycomm.com/collections/pouches/products/lighter-case-by-maratac

Holds the Mini, mini Bic and a little Maratac peanut lighter (also CountyComm).  Nice little minimalist kit.  A little tight lengthwise on the Mini, so I wrapped the Mini is layers of plastic wrap and then soaked the pouch in water and let it dry with the Mini in place.  Fits very nice now.  I also folded up 1/2 of a paper towel and put it on top of the Mini in the pouch to add a little more stretch when the pouch was wet.

Pouch is very well made and has both snap and Velcro for closure.  Loop in back is for belt or molle attachment.  And it’s only $5.  👍🏻

Wish I could take a pic as the store is far away but army surplus stores had one. A bit of a tight fit but it would work.

Walmart and other stores stock cheap Multitools with sheath (Walmart-Ozark=$3.87) if you don’t mind it being a bit big. You can always throw away the MT or use it as a beater. Big sheath might work especially if you want to add more stuff inside.

If you need a german/european alternative to reduce shipping costs you can find several small sheaths (holster) in dark blue in this shop.
For exampe, this costs only 4,75 Euro + 4,95 Euro shipping. The sheaths ar not exactely for multitools, but regarding the price...
