Least Expensive Option

I don't have experience with these, but you can't get any less expensive than this.  A buck each, at Dollar Tree.

I have that stone in my toolbox. It doesn't work all that great. But for deburring parts and such, it's a pretty good choice for a buck.

I just did a review of the $1 Swiss Army Knife knockoff from Dollar Tree, here...
https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,75095.0.html

Unless you're in desparate need of a basic cutting tool, I would recommend the $4 Walmart Swiss Army Knife knock-off. (Actually, it's marked at $3, plus tax currently. WELL worth the extra couple bucks)

The problem of our age... the Chinese are producing junk so cheaply and quicker than anyone can get rid of it!
This whole wall needs to be destroyed with a flamethrower or something...

I wouldn’t spend my money on those for use or gifting... even if it’s just a buck... these very inferior knives can cost more harm than good...

A dollar saved on these could be spent on a cheap Vic SAK in used condition.

I would say my '$5 Challenge' pretty well proved this. I REALLY good used Vic/Wenger can be had for at/under $5.

Total waste of a dollar.
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Picked up a coupla used Spartans for $4. each from the MTO store recently. A minor cleaning, oiling, resharpening was all that was needed. Like I do on any SAK I already own. Very good condition. Grant sent them out fast. The mini drivers in the corkscrews were add-ons, but they're not a bank-breaker.  That was a great buy  :tu: :salute:

I will step in to defend those Dollar Tree sharpening stones, just a little; they're not a bad option for keeping the edge on your beater garden tools.

Was in a different DT today and they had this for a buck.  I couldn't pass it up.

I'll probably buy a few of those. They're decent. I paid $4 for the one I had from a bookstore, although mine had all the markings stamped, not printed. May I ask what the heck No. 9 really is. It's a "direction indicator" as per the instructions, but it seems to make more sense as a protractor.

Is it possible it has something to do with shining the sun thru it or casting shadows or something?

(Image removed from quote.)

My dyslexia made me read "CHEAPSAKE" instead of "CHESAPEAKE" at the bottom :D

I have a box full of those crappy Chinese knockoffs (when buying in bulk there's often a couple of these in the lot) and use them as a "least expensive option" than lending a good SAK you've taken care of for years and seeing it being destroyed in less time than it takes to write this sentence... Or when I need to really abuse a tool.

Still have too many of those and of other cheap knives... I'll probably sell all that crap in bulk and if I can get 16 francs back from it I'll be happy and get myself a Vic Jetsetter with it :D

4 bucks will buy you a good, but used, Vic or Wenger on the forum store. A little bit of elbow grease and they're like new! The chinesium stuff is not worth a penny.

Never said any of these were any good.  Never said I'd suggest using any of these.  What I said was at a buck a piece, you won't find anymore more "budget" than these, even if you had to replace them a few times a year.

Not sure of the real-life practically, but #9 is intended to be a compass.
