TP,

You got me thinking about my OG EDC. Before MT.o and before I knew anything about EDC. I just carried a few things I accumulated or were given to me(sometimes by my Dad).
What I carried over ten years EVERYDAY in one back pocket were three things. All rattling in one pocket.
I guess it never bothered me, because I figured the trouble was "worth having the tools".
Pictures 1 & 2 show the ACTUAL 1988(Olympics Kodak Sponsor gift light - gold anodizedl mini-maglite) 2x AAA MagLite and Victorinox Explorer (the red scales were broken for years and I recently put STs on it). The Gerber MT I had was the exact model I replaced it with in the photo (I gave the old one back to my Dad when I found an exact replacement), a Gerber MultiPlier Version 3(last version with plier bolt pivot).
The MT is the only piece of my ten+ year carey that I don't have the old one. :(
The original Vic Explorer I had was seriously misused and abused, so the tools have been ground on, the liners have cracks in them, and it has become a thumbnail breaker(no matter how much clean/oil, it has broken liners). I keep it for sentimental reasons. The original 1988 Olympics Kodak Gift light Maglite has all new "guts" in it, salvaged from a clearance mini-mag at walmart and works great. But, look at that wear! That light has survived everything you can imagine.

Pictures 3 & 4 show the original ten+ year carry replacements. Same model MT, SAK, and MagLite.
Finding the V. 3 MultiPlier was easy. I bought two "unused" MultiPlier V.3s(one for the Gerber collection and one for the "replacement original ten+ year carry") and gave the original worn out MultiPlier back to my Dad (who originally gave it to me and didn't want one of the mint V.3s I had bought).
The Victorinox Explorer was not too hard to find. Just needed to have basic red scales and the last style grey plastic magnifier Vic made. I like it a LOT more than the newer clear frame magnifier.
The 1988 Olympic Kodak gold-anodized 2xAAAMaglite...waited for a year before one popped up on evilbay. Paid 5x more than a brand new incandescent 2xAAA MagLite worth it though.
I now have possess the same exact model stuff of my original ten+ year carry.
I don't carry it too often, but once in a while, I get nostalgic. I will be carrying it tomorrow. :)
TL;DR = old stuff jacked up from ten+ yeara of use and glbm bought the exact same thing to replace it.
