Very nice color match combos there Echo.   :like:

Should’ve gotten on the juice old stock release earlier this year… I just don’t know if I’d carry it.

Though they weren’t something I felt a personal need for, the discontinuation of the Juice line left a hole in the Leatherman lineup (and the market at large) for pocket-size PBMTs that really hasn’t been adequately filled.

:iagree: The Juice line has that little something that the Rev and related models lack.

I agree Nate and Dan, I don't think Leatherman has filled the void that was left when the Juice line was retired.

I did some file work on the KF4 awl last weekend.  It works just like a 93mm Vic now.

The juice series certainly looks like a good pair with a SAK.  I do somewhat regret a bit not picking up one of the old stock re-release.  I just don’t think I’d actually use one without better pliers on it.

Yeah, I know what you mean.  I'm not much of a plier user because I usually have a dedicated pair nearby so they only serve backup purposes for me.  I carry a Skeletool frequently, and these are just as robust as those, and offer a much broader toolset.  In comparison, you lose the convenience of the pocket clip and OHO blade of the Skele, but gain more utility.

Since I use a SAK blade frequently, I usually prefer to have a smaller toolset on a thinner SAK for better control and the other tools on a separate multitool that I don't use as frequently.

For me, the Jetsetter on my key ring is the perfect match to almost any full-size SAK I usually carry.

If I pack Alox, the Jetsetter adds t&t and Philips (as well as scissors in case of non-X models). In the case of Celidor, you always get the small Philips, also a bottle opener (if you fancy 74 mm Vics) and scissors if the big boy doesn't have them.

And if you go to places where knives are not permitted, you just jettison the full-size SAK and still have scissors, a bottle opener, a Philips screwdriver and t&t on your key ring.

I seriously doubt the Jetsetter will ever leave my key ring.

Cheers,

Simon

That's good thinking ST.  I've done the same with the stayglow Rambler that has been ever-present on my keychain for 15 years or so.  I've thought about "downsizing" to a Jetsetter at times because it has the most-used tools of my Rambler, but I would miss the nailfile at times as well.

I don't even think about missing T&T on ALOX, or really even a pair of scissors on my main SAK because the 58mm ones do everything I need them to.

:iagree: I’m of a similar mindset. Doing the Alox challenge this month has me really appreciating the Rally and Rambler.  I really try to limit tool overlap and they make the perfect companion adding those small tools. Same idea for the Alox Minichamp and 91mm SAK.

Here’s another good one.  I’ll likely carry this combo frequently during the Spirit challenge

Spirit butter blade, Alox Pruner, and Rally.

[ You are not allowed to view this attachment ]

This combo has no tool redundancy/overlap for those interested.  I tend to carry a Spirit and Rally when I think I’ll need the small Philips  combo tool and toothpick/tweezers.  Doing a little work outside this morning I grabbed the Pruner for the Alox challenge and was happy to have the pruning blade. This is also not something I would like to see on the Spirit… it would be too heavy to properly use the pruning blade.

Same as here, but that was with a Rambler (assume all my combos are with the Rambler): https://forum.multitool.org/index.php/topic,7543.msg2428130.html#msg2428130

I suppose you could argue that the Rambler and OG Spirit have scissor redundancy, but I would argue that the two types of scissors are ideal for different purposes (heavy duty vs. light duty), just as the file on the Rally/Rambler has a different purpose from the file on the Spirit.

Your other post was an inspiration, and I went searching for the Pruner.  And agreed about the file and scissors.  I include the 58mm or 74mm size blades in that argument as well.

Great combos as always :salute:

I agree about the scissors and files not being redundant as they have different uses  I also see different type knife blades as not redundant for the same reasons :tu:

Ah, yes of course.  I remember you saying that you hoped the pruner hadn't been retired.  I suppose we still don't have an answer to that question, do we?

I don’t think so. It’s listed on the US Vic site, but just as out of stock with no “notify me” for back in stock.  It’s available at Heidi Shop in Switzerland.  I found mine on Amazon via Amazon Japan priced equivalent to Vic and HS. I did notice the Electrician is back in stock on US Vic as “new” and I received an email ad.  Presumably the same will happen for the pruner or maybe we’ll get the Rancher back…one can hope.

Also, thanks NS and Poncho
