Native arrived today.  It's very nice. :)  In very good condition for a second hand knife, though I think it's been taken apart at least once before.  The action is slightly rough, so I need to oil the tang but otherwise it's great.  Slightly smaller blade than I was expecting but the handle is very comfortable.

Bloody Hell that was quick - nice one!

I quite fancy one now... maybe in the summer?

Edit: Do you think it's missing one of its washers?

Fuzzy, any chance that you are the actual previous owner of this knife? Is this a knife that you may have 'restored' to new condition...?

Gees, one time you get carried away with a wee bit of acid and...

Funnily enough, I do have a Spyderco for sale, I might list it tomorrow... and... and it's in perfect working order thank you very much...!  :D

Thanks Nix.  I'll try - I still owe you a write up on the Terzuola too. :-[

Fuzz, you ought to get one. :pok:  You deserve it. ;)

Edit: Do you think it's missing one of its washers?

No, they're both there.  It was just a bit of gunk on the tang.  A drop of mineral oil sorted it right out - it's lovely and smooth now.

Yes, you're right... maybe with custom natural linen micarta scales perhaps...? Mrs Fuzzy wants us to go to BC end summer... surely I'll need a new knife for that trip, won't I?

Thanks Poncho.  I'm very happy with it so far.  It's a reassuringly hefty and a good size in hand though the blade might be a little too short :-\.  I can't flick it open, but it is very smooth and it is possible to close it one-handed.  Going to try it tip-up in my pocket to see if it's easier to get to.

Put the clip on the other end this morning to see if tip-up carry suits me, but the screws are just long enough to contact the blade and slow down the action.  I might see if I can find some tiny washers before I file the end down.

Well, I really like the Native.  It's not too big, got a great blade shape and the G10 feels good in the hand.  The action is great now I've cleaned and oiled it, and back lock is very secure and easy to use.  The clip works well and it stays exactly where I put it in my pocket.  The blade is maybe a little too short and deep for use as a paring knife, but for everything else I've tried it's great.  If I'm being really picky, the lock drops in a touch too far, and leaves the bit you press sticking up by about 0.2 mm.

I'm fairly certain I want a compression lock Spydie next, and the Shaman is very high on the list, just above the PM2.  Shame it doesn't seem to be for sale in the UK yet - and I'm a little wary of ordering one from abroad.

Turns out I didn't like the Native as much as I first thought...  It felt great, and the build quality was excellent, but I sold it a while back as the blade is just a little too short and I bought a Sebenza instead.  I am still after a large spydie folder, and the Shaman is calling to me.

Really? Maybe I need to look at it again, I don't think the Shaman does it for me.

Big comfy handle, compression lock, chunky blade, good steel but not crazy hard. :like:

What would you choose instead, z?

What I really want is a Rock Lobster, but they've been out of production for several years now.

And I want a slip joint Lil Native, and to make some CF or G10 scales for my Pingo.

Yeah that's a nice one.
The spydiechef has been on my list for a while but the caribbean might take it's place.

Spydiechef is nice, but expensive.  Love the blade on the sheepsfoot Caribbean but the handle is gopping.

The Shaman is getting very positive reviews, but I find it a bit vanilla

 :iagree:

I also wish somebody would give me a SpydieChef

Everything.   :dwts:

Have you had the Manix 2 Ultra Light in hand yet?

I just can't seem to go back to anything heavier since deciding to EDC one for the last 3/4 of the year!

I was a little worried it might not be tough enough but now I realize that I just might not be tough enough?

Just a crazy great largish but light weight choice.

Umm not that I would ever kick a Sebenza to the Curb either

I had a chance to pick one up but for some reason I passed.  I still kick myself over it.  I quite like the SLYSZ BOWIE  but well out of my price range.
