Anything with a combo tool.  It removes so much of the functionality that you get from the small blade and separate opener layer that its inclusion automatically renders the knife useless to me.

Qualifying a SAK as useless is a pointless exercise. It all depends on the user and circumstances. I like my Waiter (blade, combo tool, corkscrew) very much, especially at party time. However, it´s not much use on a working day.

Trying to dictate what others think of their tools is, I agree, a pointless exercise.  My experience with the combo tool has lead me to the conclusion that anything with it is less useful to me than a SAK with a small blade and opener layer.

Swisschamp XAVT, it's a conversation piece . Although I have got the belt pouch for it and carried once just for fun
I understand that the XLT is actually small enough to be practical EDC.
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

How often do we hear someone say ´I would like Victorinox to do a <model x> with <tool y> when he finds his SAK is not quite perfect?

OTOH  rarely do we hear someone say ´I wish Victorinox would drop <a less useful SAK model>´.

Any function that a SAK has, i.e. compass, watch, thermometer, etc. that my phone can do, I will find redundant and unnecessary.

although not my least carried, the SAK I own that is  less useful to me is a  single blade, no other tools SAK.
I just carry it because of how thin and light it is (fits inside a wallet) but I've got a plethora of other blades and cutting tools on me, every day at any given time

My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

All 11 of my SAKs are useful, but the one that gets no pocket time is my 2005 Alox Anniversary Edition Soldier; I just can't do without scissors.  It's never been used, I just got it because it had Charles Elsener's signature on the blade.  I notice someone has one on Ebay for $199.  Make me an offer? ::)

I just see them as investments/objects of beauty, and not tools

Pretty much the same. So... I'd say the Gold Climber or any Annual Edition ones...

This isn't working at all.  I'm putting it on eBay for $198, undercutting the other guy by $1.

:bdh:

Without the combo tool on the Hunter you would have no Gut hook. Yes it's the worst can opener I have ever used but it works and it's worth putting up with to get the gut hook.

Just my .02.

Least useful? Tough call. They all seem to have a niche or role. The Classic is a pretty underpowered SAK, especially compared to the Ambassador or Executive. So, maybe the Classic is the least useful. Having said that, I seem to carry a Classic often and with pleasure.

(And the Combo tool is pretty good, in my opinion, for what it allows the Compact to be.  :tu:)

The Electrician.  It's a beautiful tool and I'll never get rid of it because it was my dad's, but it has no key ring so I can't hang it from a dangler, no saw which I use a lot in my garden, no scissors, no back tools, and no T & T.   I like the little electrician's blade and the inline awl, but that's just not enough for me to want to carry it.
