Fitting kick pocket clip to a crunch problem
on: January 25, 2018, 06:18:11 PM
Got my kick pocket clip and screw from Loki-mobile yesterday
So got round to have a go today trying it on my LM crunch
But the screws are a different the crunch screw is course thread
And the kick screw is fine thread
I really want the kick screw as the head is bigger to cover the kick clip
And the crunch screw is the same size as the kick clip hole so won't stay?
So what are my options ? a screw sleeve from a other LM maybe
Any help much appreciated
I have seen LM crunches with the kick clip and kick screw fitted  :ahhh

Is there a hardware shop nearby that might have the screws you need?

I think you will need the original kick pivot screw for the clip's screw to work. It have a pre threaded hole for the clip's screw. I dun think just by using the crunch's pivot screw and and screw will work properly. U will probably not be able to balance the tightness of the internal implement with the wobbiness of the clip..

Simplest, cheapest way, get a kick and scrutinise that particular screw. I would like to think the pivot screw on the wingman/sidekick series on the pocket clip side should also work. They are the same dia. And torx are easier to work with than knurled screw!

Apart from the thread pitch being different  :bnghd:
It's a 5mm thick pivot just like the wave scissors have
So hopefully other LM multitools might work? as long
It's got the same thread pitch as the LM kick
Length if longer is fine as it can be cut down to size  :ahhh

G'Day,

As far as I know you will need the original Kick pivot bolt too. The clip is designed to screw into the threaded Kick pivot when you add the clip.

Have a look at this thread: https://forum.multitool.org/index.php?topic=42112.0

lf the original Crunch splined head fits the Kick pocket clip you can do what l did when l added one to  PST.
Basically  l drilled and tapped the orignal pivot (the long part) using the original thread type.
l then purchased a stainless button head torx screw and used this to hold the clip in place.
lts a bit more work but at least l didn't have to waste a Kick.
Cheers
George

The pivot screw came in the post today  :mail:
I don't know what model LM the pivot screw came off
But the pivot that holds the tools is 13.6mm in length
And the pivot from the LM crunch is 12.6mm in length
After filing off 1mm from the pivot that holds the tools
I Than had to file the head a bit thinner
from 1.10mm to 0.85mm
This is as the thickness of the kick clip is 1.02mm
So the kick screw wasn't stoping the kick clip from rattling
About without making the head thinner
I didn't have to change or use a file on the LM crunch
So can still be returned to standard  :tu:
