Victorinox Watch Case Opener??
on: January 22, 2018, 02:10:16 PM
Can anyone identify this Victorinox knife?
To me it seems a Watch Case Opener, but I am not sure.
The knife has brass liners.
I found a picture on the internet and the knife is for sale for about € 45. Is that a good price? Seems to me a little bit on the high end.

The tool is for lifting up the bark of plants, for grafting

It is a gardening knife

Yup, the watch opener tool is a little different:

The red ecoline version with alu liners is about E 32. Seems E 45 for the deluxe version is OK, if it´s new. I´d buy it if I could afford it. I think the brass lined versions are discontinued. And the wharncliffe blade on this one is not as common as the others.

The pruning blade on the knife in your pic seems like it was broken and reshaped.
That's a damaged knife definitely not worth the full price.
Vic can replace that blade for a few bucks but I wouldn't even pay 25€ for this knife.

Looks like a Grafter variant, listed in Sakwiki as 1.9113:

Although pictureless, the description seems to fit:
1.9113 Victorinox AN: 3 layers, Brass budding blade, modified Clip-point blade, Wharncliffe blade.

Nicely spot, hiraethus!

Seems like it does exist indeed ! And that blade seems longer than a reshaped pruning blade would be...

Learn something everyday :D Apologies for the earlier message. Still wouldn't pay 45€ for this but it might be worth it...

Many more thanks!!

The seller claims it is brand new, so the blades should be original.
Anyway, I won't buy it, because trees & flowers are not my kind of thing. Watches are!
BTW, it is for sale on the Dutch online 'market place' called marktplaats.nl .

I have a couple and the black ones are really solid, smooth operating knives.

They feel a grade above regular SAKs
