SwissChamp XLT Facelift. :)
on: January 26, 2018, 03:52:22 AM
I have been wanting to update the look of my XLT for some time. Found some silvertech scales and changed them out. It doesn't look as good as I was imagining, but I'm digging the new look! :)

I'll hold onto the ruby scales in case I need to swap them back, but the silvertech is a nice change from the ruby.

Before and after pics.

Nice

I assumed from the title that Victorinox was coming out with a newer model :)

Thank y'all!

Reinier,
Couldn't find any plus 91mm ST scales, but can live without the hard to use micro-pen(I have pens in two pockets anyway. :tu:

Well, you would think there were SilverTech plus scales as there is a Silvertech SwissChamp, but it doesn't have them either.

It is also interesting to note that SilverTech as a scale variation model number is
1.6794.T7 while wood scales with all scale tools is 1.6794.69, while translucent is 1.6795.T compared to the standard 1.6795 for plain red cellidor.
personally I find it odd that they chose such inconsistent codes in respect to tool variations yet decided to change model codes for some rather than just the "colour code".

You are aware that the last digit represents the number of scale tools, right? 5 is inlcuding the pen which Silvertech scales don't have.
1.6794.69 doesn't either.

Oops seems to have gone crosseyed, it is mentioned on the tool list, should have doubted my eye quality sooner than Victorinox quality.
Well anyway, shows that confusion is indeed understandable.

Very sexy! I've wanted to get some Swiss Bianco Plus scales and do a Swisschamp/Swisschamp XLT with Ti or Copper Plus scales.

Thanks y'all! Your knowledge of SAK scales is impressive! :tu:

Thank ya! Ti or Copper would be a lovely contrast.
I opted for the ST scales, because they were a good deal and looked sexy and slick. They were difficult to put on(wound up using a piece of soft leather and a rubber mallet to get them flush), so they will probably break if I remove them. This XLT will be silvertech for a long time to come. :)
My older SAKs don't take scale swaps as easily as my newer ones, but it worked. :)
