This came in today. :D Man this thing is stout! I like it better than kabar usmc because the handle is longer, usmc is a bit short for my hand. Sheath have plastic insert so no worry about cutting the nylon, however it also makes noise when knife move around inside, plus cannot cordwrap the little one since it wouldn't fit.

Also reprofiled it to 30° with 40° edge angle, sharrrrrrrp!

Are you glad you went with the 7"?  That still looks like a great camp knife to me.  :tu:

Spork, I have to say I am somewhat in awe as to the size and range of knives you collect. :o  Where on Earth do you keep them all?

Yeah the 9" would've been too bulky to carry around for sure.

I just got my Tom Brown Tops Tracker back from knifemaker "Tom Krein". He is famous for his blade regrinds. I asked him to regrind my Tracker for me and this is what he did:

(Image removed from quote.)

Pictures simply don't do this knife justice. This knife is now a real cutter and amazingly sharp!  :tu:  He also does amazing Spyderco regrinds....

Holy crap that is a cool knife!

A scary looking knife, and somewhat tacticool, but... it looks like a useful blade design for the outdoors.

My tastes in what looks cool and what I would actually carry tend to be at odds with each other when it comes to fixed blades. I would really dig one of those, but would probably never carry it due to the "Hey, Rambo!" stigma I imagine people would associate with it.

Same thing with Kukris.

I suppose this means I will have to stick with a good heavy plain camp knife.

 :D

You guys are funny.

I just read these "kukri thumbs up" posts.. on Friday I was handling the Cold Steel Kukri Machete and the Ka-Bar Kukri and almost left the shop with both.

My online review reading has not swayed me from going back for them. So soon I will be a kukri owner as well.

Now to get that Cold Steel Pocket Bushman.. Wenger Ranger 57... SwissGrip... Scibeer SAK... Douk Douk... Gerber Gator machete...

 :ahhh

A British MOD survival knife with a home made set of scales.

There is nowt girlie about them that's for sure.  :D  One of the reasons I'd never carry it as a stand alone knife is the near total lack of a point.  So given that's the case, and I then have to carry a smaller fixed blade, then I would carry an axe instead of the MOD knife.  I suppose if I had a fixed camp and could take more than what I'm prepared to carry on my back it would make for a good supplementary knife.

I just got a new JRE sheath in for my EnZo Trapper so I had to take some pics.

The Trapper is one of the earlier blades in 0-1. Scales are Maple Burl with brass bolts and lanyard tube. The JRE sheath is the F1 Gundy model with a drop loop added. Originally intended for a Fallkniven F1, but it fits the Trapper perfectly.

The grip tape circle is meant to be a striker for the strike anywhere matches, correct?

Yes, it works well if you use a light touch...otherwise it can rip the heads off.

Just bought this one from an auction site, it's a vintage Puma Bowie from 1980 with carbon steel Pumaster blade & thick Sambar Stag grips.

They don't make them like this anymore,

hand forged 120mm x 5mm bushcraft knife, has two sharpening angles, for chopping and "whittling",and the end of handle is hardened to act as firesteel.

and good old m95 with fallkniven s1.

these i haul with me in school, not all,but one at the time.nothing special or fany but these have been proved to be sturdy, take some batoning easily and easy to sharpen...except for that oddball convex-S1.but the convx will be history and it will have scandi grind.
