Nice! What did you use to create the patina?

We should have steered you to the Tops BOB Fieldcraft knife. If you liked its kydex sheath, might have ended up being a cheaper option for one of your knives (I got mine for $110) :)

Thanks!  Mustard  :tu:

Started to convex the edge a bit last night, so the sides were a little roughed up, and I was curious if the D2 would stain :D

LOL!  Thanks bud!  :)   Haven't been steered anywhere since my divorce!!!!

Most of the stuff we talk about on here just nudges me toward stuff I've been researching and pining over for a while (I do that a lot).  :2tu:

That TOPs Knife is cool but always had a thing for that Becker Magnum Camp, just never pulled the trigger on one till they were being discontinued (again).

Same, I'm just looking for someone to tell me to buy the things I'm researching, so I can just do it :D

The 5 is so much better than I thought it would be, especially since when I ordered the 5 and 15, it was based off having seen my friends 15, but thinking it was the 5! Ordered it expecting it and a smaller one lol. But I've grown to love the big knife! Very useful cutting onions

Here's some temptation. Ka-bar has the Becker BK3 on closeout because they are changing packaging. http://www.kabar.com/knives/detail/218.

This thread is rapidly becoming the Becker fan club  :D

I can't join in with that as most of my big knives were made much closer to home  ;) I'll try to get a pic of some of them up this weekend  :tu:

I just looked it up, great design. Better features than the ESEE Laser Strike on my knife shortlist.

I was torn between the Tops BOB and the Laser Strike when I got the BOB. The BOB is great, but now I still want a Laser Strike.  :)

Since I gave the BK4 to my sister I'm thinking about a BK2 i like the looks of the BK16 but I'm concerned about the handle being to small for my hand. The BK3 is real tempting also.

Will you mind to do a comparison review after you get the Laser Strike? I'll make a purchase of either one thereafter.

I have intense concentration on various subject matter and type of gear for months in a natural progression that makes sense to me. Now I'm interested in research and purchase of women wengers.

The Laser Strike has been on my wish list for a year. Might easily still be on it in another years. There are many knives on my wish list :)

On another note, this thread has taken its toll on me. Since today was the last day of Massdrop's current sale on the BK5, I broke down and ordered one :D

I did strip the 5! Love it a lot now! Actually stripped the 15 last night, I'll get pics today. Raistlin, you're gonna love it! It's like half kitchen knife, half short pirate sword  :D

David, as a guy with large hands 10" pinky to thumb, xl-xxl gloves, the tweener handles are very comfy, and I'm working on spacers just for that extra touch of thickness. The scales are solid unlike the full size Becker scales, too :)

Oh, I know it's a good blade. Been thinking about it on and off for about a year. Figured that there might be some truth to the closeout rumor about it, and maybe it was time to buy. And then this review helped to push me over the edge, too: https://swissfamilyprobst.wordpress.com/2015/07/09/3-year-knife-review-the-becker-bk-5-magnum-camp/. The reviewer was using it for about 3 years every day. Seems like a better all arounder than my BK7, with the BK7 having the advantage for major wood processing (which I don't do that much of). In fact, after reading that review, I'm sure SAK Guy is going to love it even more as an EDC for his farm after he carries it more :)

Great article...I read it back on the 13th.  :D

Added: which was a day after my first 5 got here...it does seem to be a great all around choice which is what I wanted for my trouble bags.

Gentlemen, here are the thoughts of the designers Ethan Becker and Jerry Fisk

Solving problems you didn't know you had in the most obscure way possible

"And now, it's time to hand this over to our tame race axe driver. Some say, he can live in the forest for six months at a time without food, and he knows of a secret tribe of only women where he is their God. All we know is, he's call the Styx!" - TazzieRob
