Thermo molded sheath with Kydex alternative.......done!  :D

I went over everything with 2000 grit sanding paper, washed and then some Brunox oil......and my first DIY fixed blade is done.

Not 100% happy with the eyelets, getting another size/type after payday...

Beer-fueled frenzies are always productive

Thanks  :salute:

I started with a buddy's CS GI Tanto this weekend, they stabbed it into a shipping container....which it took.
During the balance test it lost its handle scales and bent ever so slightly.

It's getting micarta and ergo smooth out

Have to finish that this week because friday is payday..... :woohoo: ...............and the BK9 is coming home to papa!

Bk9 and BK2 will be stripped and polished, and after my recent successes I'm considering "kydex" front with leather backing sheaths for both of them.
A bit ambitious, but why not......

Hello Becker fans!   :tu:   Just in case you thought I'd jumped ship with the Spyderco pics lately. Rest assured I had  two Beckers an 11 and a 32 along with a Schrade Sharpfinger in the bail out bag aka BOB also.     :D     :D

It's funny, that contraption decided what my first Becker was gonna be. It was a 24 and to this day, I've not held an 11. Though I do want to now

I may or may not have a used trail master coming in from the 'bay, and may... Or may not, also have 3 bahco Mora companions (just got one and love it!).... and a bk9.....

Shouldn't have reminded me that "it's only money"  :D

Also got an old style 546mg recently

It's not "money", its disposable income  :salute:

Counting the days till I pick up the BK9, and then for the rest of the month (if I limit my beer consumption) I'll have to choose one friday to go buy the last of the Enlan folder I want.

My car is 20 years old next year which means I can't comprehensively insure it, no matter what POS I get next that'll mean a monthly installment and all these knife buying games will stop dead.
I'm enjoying it while I can.

I signed up for a course 28-30 December with the knifemaker I bought my first custom from......I get to keep the knife I make, so if I don't smurf it up it'll be a complete bargain!  8)

:tu:     8)    Hope you have a great time!

That area feels like coming home, and it should because that farm and several next to it used to belong to family......

I suspect max 8 hours in the workshop total, they only have 2 hours electricity per day, and day time temperatures will be over 40 C, so you only work early.

Hammock hanging beer drinking nature walking.........bliss  :D

Well.......found out later we'll be working with D6, not Elmax.

I've got 2 ideas namely a simple little bushcrafter of some sort, or (if I'm honest) a variation on the design of the Tops Prather.

I can assure you my teacher will not allow a Scandi grind, well aware of his opinion on that.

Not sure if a Bowie is maybe a bit ambitious......?

What would you want in D6?

I have no idea of what the advantages and disadvantages of D6 steel is.
I think Id go for a drop point bushcrafting knife.

Yes but thicker, bit more like a mini cleaver.

Buck 543?
 8)

I love big knives, but since Mora came into my life I've developed a taste for small, clean-lined fixed blades with nice handle scales.....call it BRK-envy.

So I figured be humble and keep it small, but make sure the grind is challenging enough that I can walk away with as much knowledge as possible.
