I went to order some more kydex, and left with a hunka chunka blade steel of the 14c28N variety, 4mm thick.  8)

Cutting, shaping and heat treating this will be something else, but my mother didn't have scared kids  :D

BK9 for scale  :D

Hey, nice 9! How do you like it?

Oh, sandvik  And you got the good stuff. Sandvik is all you need for stainless steel in this world, it's beautiful!

Sg- it's a great price for what appears to be a beauty of a sheath, but I only paid 80 for the tm ;)
How do you like the sheath? Would you recommend it to someone who wants to use it all the time?

How does everyone keep their tm pretty? I can't oil it, because it just beads up, or wipes off on the sheath-which, wow, does secure-ex dull knives. And it doesn't seem like everyone's going around forcing a patina. Though it's (strangely) not exactly doing anything bad dry..

That lion knife is gorgeous raistlin! Love the saber grind, and the handle!!

I've found a weird thing for myself with the $100 mark. I can't seem to break it. Not one of my knives was more than that, closest was my Para2 at 99. Trail master I was ready to pay 130, but got a deal. I think most of the quality appears before $100, if you're just watching quality of the blade itself, which generally I am.

I wanted a brk bravo 2, rampless without the swedge. But I heard a few things about overheated edges especially, and I didn't want to risk it on my first 'nicer' knife. Any input? Any other recommendations from brk?

Gerhard, can't wait to see collection pics!

For knives that I am collecting but not using, or at least would not use for food, I use Sentry Solutions TUF Cloth. They make a marine version of it if you live somewhere very humid and want extra protection.

Yes, Harry does a great job on those sheaths.

An ultra fine one but I usually hit mine before they go into the leather sheaths....just a tiny tiny tiny bit on a buff rag.  Probably have 30+ hunting knives stored in leather sheaths with no problems with rust so far. Will use RIG as well if going out into the rain with blades/firearms.

These are my results here in my part of the country, your results may vary. Flitz also makes a protection product just for guns/blades...Have a tube but never tried it.

Now you reminded me. I forgot I used it one time with a Dremel buffing wheel to polish up the chrome a bit on an old S&W 38 stainless (got it for my son when he turned 13). Did a good job for that at taking out some very minor scratches and getting it all shiny.  :tu:

Here are a few pics of my Becker Magnum Camp, and a SOG seal pup.

It's $27 on prime right now. It's a bit thich for the saber grind, but I'd say it's like a budget bk2. Very solid, and great handle, very usable choil, and I'm getting the schf37 because I bet it'll be even more fun. But this is a great knife for the price, and though its just 1095, it came scary sharp with an even bevel, and the jimping on the front and back are neat, and not uncomfortable like they look. Gets my recommendation

SG- thanks man! For sure the trail master owes itself in no small part to you, remembering you had one+ made me comfortable to get one  :D

Raistlin, you have the seal pup elite I want, satin plain edge  I just, I had a CE tini already, and it was good, but because I've had one, re-getting one loses priority.

Like the buck 119. One of those was almost my first knife when I got my Gerber profile instead. So I've wanted one for a few years. It doesn't offer me the utility of many of my other knives, but it's beautiful, and good at being a 'knife', so it's got that going for it. The leather sheath, the belt loop has a crack forming where it folds. Any ideas how to help it? I can't tell if the black is just standard dye or a coating, but it doesn't feel like it'd play nice with oil

I can *finally* enjoy these Becker pics for real, without just sitting in jealousy  ::) :D

Though these 7's... They're getting to me!
