First peek at one of the CKC Hikers I've been working on...still oiling the wood and I haven't figured out the sheath yet.

Scales are Yew with matching firesteel and diamond hone.
Damn that look's good Dave :tu:

The knife is a bit small for my tastes...I extended the handle a bit on this one to get a four-finger grip. Basically it is a full tang version of the Svord Peasant knfe. In fact the original version of the CKC hiker used the blade from the folder - LINK

How did you fix the handle on that one?  Is the blade slotted in or is it in two halves with an extra piece of wood at the back?
I'm not taking any more mod orders at present, sorry.

I originally made a aluminum spacer on the first one I built...but it didn't look so good. On the Yew handle I mortised one of the scales for the tang using rasps and a Dremel routing bit. It was pretty difficult to get a nice fit this way.

If I re-do the original one I plan on just making a spacer with matching wood.

Spork,

Two fine looking blades!  There really is something special about those flat ground, carbon steel, somewhat rustic looking blades!  I love them!  Thanks for posting!  Unfortunately I never see knives like that in my neck of the woods.

I was in the House Of Knives yesterday looking around and it wasn't hard to spot this!  Unfortunately the picture doesn't do it justice but this Machete is just stunning in real life.  The one they had in HOK was 1090 carbon steel, thick, heavy, and had a beautiful polish to it.  I pulled a pic of it off the internet in case you haven't seen it.

well the pic said something about it being a rambo knife yet I'm not sure if it's the same unit as the Gil Hibben IV?  The one I saw at HOK was the Hibben.

The thing that got me about it that doesn't show in the pic was yes the raw steel look but it had such a smooth polish to it.  It was almost as someone had dipped it in laquer!  I'll say it again it was stunningly beautiful!

This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

The knives and blade blanks are only available through Kyley Harris in New Zealand, it's a hobby project of his- LINK - I got the blade blanks only.

I got a new Koster Bushcraft on the mail the other day. Same steel CPM3V which I love for an outdoor bush blade. Very nicely done  :tu:

Took a few quick pics next to my old school first gen Koster for comparison, new one on the bottom and on the left in the bottom pic...

Can't wait to get it out in the woods  :D

Carved a spoon with my other cKc Hiker. This one has the short 3-finger handle as originally intended.

How do you carve the depression so smoothly with a regular knife?

Well, here's my latest. Sorry for the crappy pics but it's been raining and overcast here most of the day..........

.......Justin Gingrich (Ranger Knives) Custom modfied Shark. OAL is 9 1/2" and is built from mirror polished 3/16" thick ATS-34 which is flat ground with a convex edge. Handles are Yellow/Black layered G-10. These pics do this blade little justice. I'll get some better ones up as soon as the weather allows.
