I got these today from Lee Valley Tools.  I'm going to try a little Whittling and thought these carbon creatures (one short back ordered) might just get the job done.  They came as a kit and unfortunately the detail carver will be another week.  :)

Lee Valley sells the coolest stuff.  I love Lee Valley.

It really is an amazing store.  Top quality tools and jig's everywhere.  The layout is classy and uncluttered and hinges, brackets, knives, planes, etc are all online to peruse through.

About a week ago i received this Blackjack Model 1-7 Fighter, which i had ordered through our resident American forumdealer Texas Knives.
It's a very well made reproduction of a Randall Model 1, and about the only visual differences are the lack of the famous brand and no soldering between guard and ricasso.

Total price i paid for the knife was 196,76 dollars or around 137,00 Euro, and it included shipping from the US to the Netherlands.

This was the box that came out of a bigger box filled with packing chips;

Contents of said box;

The blade had an extra cardboard sleeve and was oiled;

Et voila;

The tiny specks you see in the picture are dust particles in the oil on the blade;

The knife is very well finished and feels very much alive in the hand, also because of the multifunctional one-piece Micarta handle.
The handground convex blade (with a tiny microbevel) is very sharp right out of the box: able to shave the hair on the back of your hand against their growth.

In the following pics i've tried to capture a little more detail, but since i still have a very cheap camera thingy they're not the best.
In the first few pics there is still oil on the blade, which is later removed to show the real blade finish

The finger cutout for use in the reverse sabergrip;

Without oil the blade shows a beautiful satin finish and a nice long swedge;

The black linen Micarta handle is nicely done and the guard has a nice polish;

The leather sheath made by Sharpshooter Sheath Systems is in itself a quality item;

Knife and sheath together;

Specifications:

Steel: Triple Tempered A-2 Tool Steel at 58 Rockwell C, Cryogenically Treated and Shank Drawn for maximum Toughness
Blade length: 17,8 cm
Blade thickness: 5,5 mm
Handle length (including guard): 12,6 cm
Handle materiall: one-piece black linen Micarta
Overall length: 30,5 cm
Weight: 304 gram
Sheath: Sharpshooter Sheath Systems 100% U.S. made Leather

It's quite likely this Blackjack will get company of a few more,  :D

I have yet to get any fixed blades.. Makes me disappointed in myself really. I really want a full sized Black KA-BAR straight edge, 12 5/8 Heavy Bowie also from Ka-Bar, and a Rat Cutlery RC-6. But maybe this weekend I will go see if I can pick myself up a Ka-Bar at one of the shops in town for a decent price. :tu:
