Yeah the factory edge is really thick, I suppose I'll ask there and see what people says.

Ohh I like that

I wouldn't worry to much about the convexing :) Just put a micro bevel on it :)

Just tried that, the 40° slot on sharpmaker doesn't touch the edge.  :ahhh I took out the mouse pad and sandpaper, but I think I made it duller. :( At least it looks shiny.  ::)

Damn that must be a thick edge :o

I took out the micrometer, it's 1.6 mm behind the edge. In comparison Opinel blade is 1.8 mm thick and 0.2 mm behind the edge.

I've finally found a fixed blade I like.  :ahhh

Perfectly balance and ergonomics, light and fast in hand, about the right size too. Had a few others but sold them all because they just don't feel right. It's only a tad over 9 oz, I know folders that's heavier than that *cough*CRKT natural*cough*.

The sheath and clip are injection molded FRN, don't know it'll stand up to cold temp yet.

Nice, the Rock Salt has been on my wishlist for awhile now.  How much did you pay for it?  I haven't seen it in Canadian shops yet.

I'm hoping Spyderco will bring out one with micarta handles like their Forester or Forager.  Carbon Fiber would also look nice on it.
This is called a Swiss Army Knife. Do you know what Switzerland is? Switzerland is a place where they don't like to fight, so they get people to do their fighting for them while they ski and eat chocolate. - Larry David

I got it from u.s., you can buy them at warriors and wonders but it's really expensive there. I very much doubt you'll see any handle variation, since it's being deeply discounted in some u.s. shops and likely to be discontinued.

Gotta have one handed opening.  :P

Yeah it surprised me too, and it's smaller than I expected. From the shape I thought it's more kukhri sized.

All of these photos can be clicked on for a closer look at the knife.

This is a sturdy little knife that was an Evolution Knife Company custom.  It actually cuts in spite of it's hefty thickness. The convex edge that the maker used is the reason.

These are the Ranger Knives that Justin Gingrich made. The second one from the top is a knife that I won in a raffle on the Ranger Forum. It was made for and used in the movie, "The Hurt Locker" Ralph Fiennes, who played a contractor, carried it for the film.  All of Justin"s work is made to be used hard. The orange handled knife is a custom by Justin based on his EDC pattern.  Another one of my favorites.

A Charlie Ridge knife Company Kephart style.
