Hello MTO,
after years of browsing the MTO forum for info, advice and fun I’m finally writing my first post here.
I thought I’ll try to shortly review the main MT events of my life as introduction.
Soo… let me see…I think my first MT was a 3-4 layer SAK given to me by my dad when I was 8-10 years old. I can’t remember the exact model but it had scissors and I think a Philips on the back (with groove for those Spam style cans).
That got lost after around 3 years and wasn’t replaced (I think Mom and Dad were glad it was gone as my learning curve using it involved some accidents
The next one I had to buy myself from some of my first self-earned money. It turned out to be a Swiss Champ in 1991 then. Over the first years using it I learned that the bottle opener screw driver can be bend if used in 90 degree mode
I also had problems with the popular in-line Philips too (being highly polished it lifted itself out of the screw when high torque was needed). And that those screw-fitted scissors were loosening up after every other use or so.
Eventually it was left in a drawer.
Then in 1995 I was sent to El Paso TX (Fort Bliss) for2.5 month of training. And there I saw it… a Leatherman Supercool errr... Supertool
It looked like it could withstand my “random abuses” better than the Swiss Champ so I bought it.
A PST followed in 1997, an Universal Tool Adapter a year later and a Micra another year later or so.
Then there was a break where I changed job (went into IT).
Eventually I started missing to use my hands to create, modify, fix…ah… stuff.
A Wave joined the toolbox in around 2010-2011 then. After the initial love I discovered the reason for the problems with cutting stranded wires. The plier head had quite some play when nearly closed. Also, the overall quality (QA) was a bit of a let-down. Eventually this one also was left in a drawer.
Only after 6-7 years I sent it in for warranty (the replacement is flawless) after searching the internet for advice.... which lead me to this beautiful place here… and that got me started… or hooked you could say… or actually addicted…
Anyways, I suppose I do not have too much MT’s (although someone says otherwise). I actually didn’t count my MT’s yet so this is a first just for you guys here:

I hope I can keep-up posting frequently. I usually don’t want to see a computer anymore after a day’s work.
Also the family needs to get their share first. But I've joined to stay.
Thank you all for your unknowingly help over the years. Maybe I can give some back.
Matt
