Mini screwdriver of different color ?

The mini screwdriver that fits in the corkscrew is grey .
Is it available in a different color ?
I know this is a very extreme example of obsession with looks and not function, and I would NEVER ask such nit picky question but a neighbor's son asked.
(Well that's my story and I'm sticking to it .)
So ,any ideas where to find a mini screwdriver of a different color ?
Or a good way to "paint" one?

I haven't tried it, but maybe a permanent magic marker might work. Would need a small point to get into the grooves of the mini-screwdriver. Just a thought.

There's some weird dye that people use to colour Spydercos... I have no idea if it works on Victorinox plastic but it might be worth a go if you're allergic to grey. For example:

But the most direct answer would be no, I don't think Victorinox ever offered anything but grey on those mini drivers.

Silly question but... couldn't the plastic part of a mini driver be 3d printed pretty easily in whatever color, then the metal driver part glued in?

I know it doesn't help specifically here, but... just saying.

I'm not sure it will work on this specific plastic, but people use Rit dye to dye disc golf discs.

The 3d printing plan seems like a good one to me. I have never seen any colour but grey on the mini driver. Surprising that it hasnt been done in other colours for special editions etc.

Just googled Rit dye too. Never knew such a thing existed. Pretty cool. When I finally get 3d printed scales properly figured out I might just be able to do everything in white and colour it.

Passing thought I have is that the grey material used might be the same as for the earlier magnifying glass frame.
Now that a clear material is used for the magnifier maybe the grey handles on pen and screwdriver will change.
Vic probably has 10 years of the grey in stock, so it won't be soon.

I think RIT Dye would work.
These three were originally yellow, but the smaller one was RIT Dyed to a reddish tone.
Easy and inexpensive

available almost everywhere

I'm not sure what RIT is but vinyl dye would work, comes in spray cans and isn't expensive

Just seeing this topic now... it can be done with Rit DyeMore for synthetic fibers.

As it happens, I just did this last weekend with the pen, toothpick, tweezers, and mini driver all dyed black. Pretty much just followed the instructions on the back of the bottle, simmered on the stove with a mix of water and dye for 15-30 minutes until it looked good and dark as desired.

Too bad that Rit Dye isn't sold in my country. I'm gonna try to find some generic dye that works...

Hi Jay, I asked you some questions on Instagram but it seems this would be a better venue. Why do you use DyeMore (liquid dye) specifically instead of the powder version that most modders seem to prefer (ie for plastic knife scales)? I haven't dyed before but there's clearly a difference. I am curious why DyeMore in this application?
