Victorinox SOS/Survival kit parts needed
on: January 30, 2018, 10:06:30 AM
I'm trying to piece together Victorinox Expedition/Traveller/Survival/SOS set for my kid, whose into boy scouts now, and I already have a Vic knife, Vic signal mirror and a suitable Vic pouch, but I'm missing Victorinox compass with ruler and thermometer 4.0568.44.
Does anyone have a spare one?
Preferably a cheap one?
Thanks!  :salute:

Hi Vladimir, if you PM me your address it may find its way to you. It´s the only part I´ve got left of my SOS kit, the rest went broken, spent, or AWOL. I won´t be needing it.

Let's see a pic of the set once it's complete!

Kiddo is going to be leagues ahead of the others! I got an Ozark trail pocket knife and was dropped off with some rope lol

I decided to use Huntsman Lite instead of Champ-it's smaller and lighter and it has a small flashlight.
I don't have all the original branded Vic stuff that goes into the kit, like sewing kit, matches, nylon string or the original SOS pouch, but I would use regular matches and similar gear I already have and I would come up with similar version of Vic SOS kit.
I'm still deciding what pouch to use...

I think I have an olive green pouch lying around if you're interested. Probably one of these:

I received today compass with ruler and thermometer from Ron Who-he is a true gent!
Thanks again Ronald!  :salute:
I've checked the accuracy of compass with my military grade compass and it's spot on accurate.
So far, I have a signal mirror, thermometer/compass/magnifier, Huntsman lite is ready and the pouch is arriving from Reinier, and I think that I have mini Maglite somewhere (but I would probably replace the Maglite with some modern AAA led flashlight) so I now need to try and find other stuff I'm missing for the kit.
Does anyone have some of the stuff that I'm missing spare or laying around-I need whistle, sewing kit, mechanical pencil, knife sharpening stone, safety pins, comb, paper and bandaids, matches and nylon string.

Most of the things you´re still missing are non Victorinox branded stuff. You´ll find them almost anywhere.

I received pouch from Reinier, a real class guy!
It's a great looking pouch, and while waiting for it to arrive, I came across an unbelievable offer in my country local classifieds ads site-almost entire content of SOS kit, unused and brand new, for 5 euros...it contains Vic mechanical pen, nylon cord, sharpening stone, matches, sewing kit and writing paper and bandages.
Now I'm very close in completing SOS kit, and while I know that I could easily find and replace the missing items with non Victorinox branded stuff, I decided that I want the kit to be as much as genuine as it could be.
I thought I had 2 Maglite Solitaires, but it turns out that I lost them somehow...
So, I'm missing following items:
Whistle, Maglite Solitaire, small fishing kit and comb.
Anyone got these items?
Here's one pic:

One question-I never owned a Vic mechanical pencil, and I was wondering what type of lead it use, and how does it work?
Is it plain leads for regular mechanical pens?
Is it just like every other mechanical pen?
Thanks

I think I may have a (red) Maglite Solitaire somewhere. If I had known, I would have sent it with the pouch...

I know that Solitaire is outdated and I own quite a lot better and more powerful flashlights, but since I managed to get almost full kit, now I want the kit to be as genuine as it could be...
