It takes two months to do a 30 day challenge?

I used to work for the U.S. government, hence the interesting math. But....yes.

Is this going to be the official thread to post in for the 30 days?

Yes, sire.  Right here.

Nix, you just had to throw that Mauser GAK in there didn't you.  I can't resist even the slimmest chance of winning such a beautiful knife so I'm in even though I already have the badge. I'll start on the 1st because I'm not good at math and can't figure 30 days if it doesn't match the numbers on my calendar.  Side note, I'm glad you haven't lost the saw cover, because, about 20 years ago a buddy of mine handed me his 108 GAK without the cover to open a bottle, and I almost instantly cut my thumb open on the razor sharp saw.  Gratuitous picture from the previous 111mm challenge. :salute:

Had to figure out a way to lure you Everglades boys out into the sunshine. Look forward to your posts!   :salute:

If you can make an exception and accept "any 100mm or more" I could join in I think.

You can do whatever you want.  Though the mods may not grant a 111mm Badge.

(Image removed from quote.)

The badge is for 111mm, but we could do 108/120/130mm badges as well. :salute:

I would love to see badges for those knives, especially the 108!

Guess I found the solution.
I don't see any exclusivity rules in either challenge so I'll pick a single 111mm that combines well with the category I pick for my next themed "different SAK every day" challenge.
This way I can continue my streak and still participate in this awesome challenge!

I'll start this, why not. I was thinking of sticking with the Spirit, but I've done 30 days with it, so I'll pick up a 111 and give it a go.

Count me in!

I haven't been online at MTO a lot (very busy with other stuff), but SAKs are still being used every day so why not a 111mm for the next 30 days  :D

Oh wait... I realise I can't do this challenge because we're going to Gran Canaria for a couple of days in february, and I can't smuggle a 111mm SAK on a plane

Unless it's possible to be allowed not to post pictures for 3 days, and then continue to post pictures for 3 days after the rest of you are finished?

The challenge has to be completed by April 17 so you can start it when you come back from holiday and still finish in time.

Again, I defer to the mods who have to keep up the standards. However, personally, I think this should be standard practice for all 30-day challenges. That way someone could do a remote, month-long, trip to the Amazon basin with only a loin cloth, Vic Classic, and waterproof camera and then post up 30-days of the most awesome minimalist challenge ever, after he or she returns. Or gets out of the hospital.

Mods may disagree, but I say, "Hell, yeah!."

30 days continuous use, updated when you can is fine; taking a break part way through a challenge is not.

However, we approve the badges but don't police them.  Do whatever your conscience will let you.

It's kind of fitting for me, in a way. I got my Spirit and Hercules together, and I just completed the Spirit challenge.
This came up in just the right time.  :climber:

Darn!!  >:(

I'll follow this thread with interest,
mainly because my first SAK ever was a 111mm Outrider that my parents bought me as a kid on a trip to france.  :climber: It was my dream tool and only knife at the time, and I lived 2 years with that alone used it for everything. It cut, pried, scraped, screwed, opened, sawed, pierced, whatever and whenever I needed.  ::)

I bent its saw and chipped its Phillips, dented its blade badly and cracked the scales, losing the toothpick, and also chipped the tip of the but it was my most valuable tool at the time. Six years later I lost it on a road trip  :dwts:

as for Gran Canaria, I have gone there twice. On my first trip I brought said Outrider to the hotel, locked in the big luggage suitcase along my clothes and hygiene stuff. Used it extensuvely on our trips there, at the beach and inside the  hotel.
No problems at all, in going or flying back to Spain.  :tu:

But of course, it was years ago, that was another era and none of the cray nonsense and rules that now apply to flying and traveling were the norm, everything was less strict and complicated. Now I wouldn't risk it if I were to go there again

anyways, have a very good trip! It's a beautiful place and fun island if you know what to do and where to go!
My toys:

MTs: Surge (2x), Skeletool CX, Rebar, Blast, Fuse, Micra, Squirt (3x), Wave, Crunch, Mini, Spirit (2x), Pro Scout, MP700 (2x), Diesel, Powerlock, PowerPlier (2x), PocketPowerPlier, Blacktip , ST6 (2x), 5WR, A100

SAKs: Bantam, Executive, Ambassador, Minichamp, Classic Alox, Champion, Farmer, Explorer, Swisschamp, Golf Tool, Wenger Champ, EVO 52, Pocket Tool Chest

How about you promise to print a picture of you 111mm, cardboard it and take pics of it at your destination. A for effort and such?
