DAY UNO
Mrs Thunderpants says there's a mouse upstairs which needs to be caught.
First things first, cut some bait. I assume mice like liquorice.

(...)

as for Gran Canaria, I have gone there twice. On my first trip I brought said Outrider to the hotel, locked in the big luggage suitcase along my clothes and hygiene stuff. Used it extensuvely on our trips there, at the beach and inside the  hotel.
No problems at all, in going or flying back to Spain.  :tu:

But of course, it was years ago, that was another era and none of the cray nonsense and rules that now apply to flying and traveling were the norm, everything was less strict and complicated. Now I wouldn't risk it if I were to go there again

anyways, have a very good trip! It's a beautiful place and fun island if you know what to do and where to go!

Thanks!

We're only travelling with hand luggage, so no chance of taking a 111mm with me  :D

How about you promise to print a picture of you 111mm, cardboard it and take pics of it at your destination. A for effort and such?

I could do that

Day 1...

My Centurion will be my daily companion for the next 30 days.   I might change up the way I carry it. It is a nice fit in my old vintage Buck 110 sheath, should I tire of pocket carry. I might switch to my paracord pocket clip as well.

I have removed the Swiss Bianco pocket clip due to work restrictions. At some point this month I might try my hand at making one of Lynn’s pvc dangler clips...

Powernoodle Day 1

My primary 111mm for this month with be the famed Outrider.  For me, it hits that sweet spot of having enough tools to handle most things, but is still "thin" and light enough to ride easily in the pocket.  What I really want in any SAK, where I can get them, are scissors and an inline phillips.  And the Outrider has that.  Being a big SAK, its easy to find in my left front pocket underneath my keys, mini Sharpie and Victorinox Manager.  And of course, the Outrider is much easier in the hand than smaller, thinner SAKs.  It almost feels like a "real" knife and not just a convenience item.

Day 1: childishly exited about the challenge. Took this photo at old old but small tree that I'd love too get my hands on once it finally gets chopped down. The carving possibilities would be amazing.

I'm pretty sure Pink Floyd had an album with Powernoodle's awesome sky-SAK photo on the cover...
So we've got Outriders, Centurions, GAKs, a German soldier stuck in a tree, as well as one in the grass. Great start kids!

Day 01:

Another excited participant here! And it looks like we're off to a great start already.  :ahhh

Stoneshank, that wood looks like it'll provide some beautiful figuring. Nice!

After breakfast, pulled out my OHT and touched up the main blade with stone and strop. Now hair-shaving and ready for the challenge. The OHT will be my only MT/knife for this challenge.

I'm a bit jealous of those Outriders with their big tool sets, but their size makes me hesitate. I'd be curious to know how the Outrider crew carries those big boys and how easy it is for them.

My GAK is technically also a non-serrated OH Trekker, I just switched the scales.

No serrations here. I like sharpening, so I do NOT care for serrations.

Maaaan! All my life I been looking for a non-serrated OH Trekker then two of them come along at once...
For a long time (until last year I think) Victorinox didn't sell non-serrated Soldiers/Trekkers in Europe. If you wanted no serrations on an OH SAK your choices were Sentinel or Whacky Orange Hunter.
Great picture by the way!

Day one.

I guess I'll represent the Serrated 111's.

Soldier is all sharp and ready to go! This workshop is perfect for sharpening the serrated 111mm. The diamond stones are the perfect size for the plane edge and the small ceramic fits the serrations perfectly.

Day 1/30
Wondering which to take with me along to my weekend trip, probably with my Outrider. Leaning towards Nomad, I haven't yet carried it much but it feels good to use.

Sure is. But I prefer having these blades on the same knife. You´ll see later on.
