As it has been a while since the last 111mm SAK Challenge, and because I have a new Work Champ arriving tomorrow, I'll be starting a 30 Day 111mm SAK Challenge beginning Thursday February 1.

Anyone is welcomed to join in the Challenge.  Or not.   :pok:  Carry and use your 111mm SAK for 30 days, either solo or in addition to your normal EDC gear.  Switch between 111mm SAKs as often as you like.  And post a daily pic. I know this is short notice, but that's how life works.

So join in on February 1, or watch me suffer by myself.  Good times either way.  Or start later in the month or whenever it works for you.   Maybe include in each post that you are at day 1/30 or 2/30, etc. to help keep track of things.

A 111mm SAK 30 Day Challenge Badge will be awarded to any participant who completes the Challenge.  Nothing gets you a hot babe like a new Challenge Badge.

And as a special bonus, win a big box of nothing - with free international delivery - if you come up with a Challenge motto like One eleven is almost Heaven or No, honey, that's just my Outrider.

I'll be interested in following your Challenge; I have a new Work Champ I haven't been able to use because I'm in a Rebar 30-Day Challenge.  OK, maybe I've used it a LITTLE.

lew, nothing stopping you from completing the Rebar challenge and then jumping in on this challenge with this motley crew when you get the chance. We may be disreputable, but we welcome company!

I think you get extra points for making a model ET - The Extraterrestrial using just a plate and a bagel
Totally unintentional, but I can see it :D

Day 01 (continued):

No significant uses for most of the day, but in the afternoon the snack-bug struck. I used the OHT to slice off a nice bit of Braunschweiger. Topped with mustard on a nice bit of rye bread. Heaven!

Any other Braunschweiger fans out there?

It has a unique flavor.  From the interwebs, a typical commercial formula is about 40% pork liver or scalded beef liver, 30% scalded pork jowl, 20% lean pork trimmings and 10% bacon ends and pieces. Added seasonings include salt and often include white pepper, onion powder or chopped onion, and mace.  Its almost like a pate, and pairs well with a hearty bread, mustard, onions, etc.

^^^ This.

I'm pretty sure that your local Supermarket has some in the cold section near the bacon and breakfast sausage. Slap a slab of this on some rye or pumpernickel, dress with a thin smear of mustard and some nice fresh sliced onions, top with that other slice of bread, and you have one of the world's great sandwiches. Do it!  :like:

Yeah, Barry!

Now, confession time, is there anything better than a Braunschweiger on rye with onions and mustard? SAK over heart, tell the truth here......

Day 2
It's the end of the road for these tomatoes. And possibly the first time I've used this Sentinel, the most boring Victorinox ever made.

2/30

My choice for the trip passed the first trial, the blade is very nice to use at least. By the way, have Nomads always had a 90 degree catch on the main blade?

As far as I can tell, all the liner-locking blades have that stopping point, in order to avoid accidental finger and thumb amputations...

On my Soldier and Trailmaster, there is a very small bump at 90 degrees, too weak to be called a stop. My Fireman, however, has a solid stop.

PS I think it´s 110 degrees actually.

Yes, evidently I was talking twaddle - my OH orange Hunter has no stopping point, neither does my Psycho Spartan (Dual Pro). So it looks to me like the non-OH blades have the stopping point and the OH blades don't... for whatever reason.

I have to resist getting a Helmsman or whatever that blue thing is. I don't need a shackle tool. I really don't! And yet I know it's my destiny to get one...

What was the final consensus, is this for 111mm only or 108-130mm?

My selection for this month

Nice, at just three tools I'm wondering if I should borrow the  Rescuetool I gave my brother for variety. I gave it to him  practically after washing it after opening, so didn't ever get a feel for it, and he's often singing its praises.

My dad has also made me curious about the belt cutter, it is, to my initial surprise the most used and beloved tool in his Swisstool RS.

The replies I got were (and I'm somewhat paraphrasing) "you can do whatever you want but the mods may not grant the 111mm badge" and "the badge is for 111mm only"

My solution is I'll carry only 111mm knives as part of this challenge, probably the same for the whole month. I'm doing another "different SAK every day for 30 days" at the same time. I picked a Hercules for this here challenge and will carry 30 different 84/85mm Alox knives for the other one. I feel like they'll combine perfectly, although I'll be missing a nail file.

Lazy Day 2:
Bring outside with my dog and now watching some Netflix while oiling some cheap-o Chinese knives and my three of my favourite ones. I kind of like the serration on my 111 practically speaking, it really helps debark (that even a word?) after sawing off some branch out a fallen tree, but otherwise I  just wish it was PE.

It's a Chinese knockoff, but still it's Ti handle and s35vn steel. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F132473364745
