I've torn apart more Fenix clickies for repair than I care to count.  They're fairly dependable for having tiny parts I guess, but they can't take a hard bump or force very well.

I could take a pic of the internals of a Fenix switch if anyone is interested.  The pic won't be confidence inspiring.

Please post some pics of the internals of a Fenix clickie switch Terry. Thanks.

Eddie

That's odd.  I have several twist-switch lights, and they all tailstand except the ARC-AA.  I have several clickie lights that don't tailstand.

Usually it is the switch or switch boot that prevents a torch from tailstanding.

If you are having trouble deciding what type of switch you want, take a look at the Nitecore Smart PD D10 or EX10 depending on what battery you want to use.  This light can be used in either configuration clicky or twisty it's up to you.  Not to mention these light look like an outstanding value considering it's quality and output.     I'm kinda hoping for one in my stocking this year.

here is the link to buy them
https://www.4sevens.com/product_info.php?cPath=93&products_id=502

here is the youtube video on the user interface that demonstrates clicky or twisty function.

Hope this is helpful

Welcome to the forums KendallAA!  I agree that the D10 is a good compromise between the two.  Take a look around, there is quite a bit of discussion of the D10 to be found here on the forums.  I EDC one and just got a D20 in the mail a few days ago.

NutSAK, I had  question about the D10.  I was wondering if you set the output level of the light to low and then untwist it so it will work in momentary mode is the output low or high?  Basically what I am trying to ask is, is there a way to control the level of light while in momentary mode or is it always set to MAX.

Just curious
BTW thanks for the welcome

You can set it to use any level of light in momentary mode.  Just set it in the on/off mode and that level will remain in memory for momentary.

However, when using momentary, you will want to just push the button far enough for the piston to contact the ring in the head and the light comes on.  If you push it all the way in until the contact ring bottoms out, it will jump to MAX and remain there until you set the level again.

I hope that makes sense...
