Thank you all for your suggestions!

The amount of creativity, humour and thoughtfulness that has gone into these is simply staggering and humbling
Having said that, notwithstanding the general brilliant quality and despite having gone through them several times both forwards and backwards, unfortunately I have not found a suggestion which I was tempted to adopt immediately and without modification.

However, I do appreciate all of your suggestions. Over the next few days, I will go through them again - this should allow me to zero in on the contribution that provides the best basis for the new name.
I will solemnly pledge to endeavour to announce both said new name, and the forum member authoring the contribution that gave rise to it (aka the winner of this GAW), at or around the beginning of next week. Stay tuned!

Oh boy 3...

Shouldn't it be (Oh boy)3?
Oh boy 3 = Oh boy*boy*boy
(Oh boy)3 = (Oh boy)*(Oh boy)*(Oh boy)
Hooked, like everyone else. ;)

All hail the hook!

Oh boy 3 = Oh boy*boy*boy
(Oh boy)3 = (Oh boy)*(Oh boy)*(Oh boy)

if memory serves me then Oh boy3 can also be interpreted as Oh boyyy  which would sound like boi and that would require one to wear a very big clock around the neck to pronounce properly

Meanwhile, in D_T's dungeon... intense sounds of profound mentation, thinking, rumination, pondering, consideration... you get the idea

Nah... just a feeble attempt at thinly masking the increasingly obvious fact that I haven't got the foggiest clue yet where this might be going, sorry...

Got it!

You should never try to be creative after a couple of Friday night beers. Now I've slept over it, and this morning, in the process of preparing to get out of bed, it came to me...

See next post.

But first, some intro. Of course, we are talking about this beauty:

As I said before, I'm awed, humbled and stunned by the number, humour and thoughtfulness of the suggestions and the quality of the reasoning behind them. Thanks to all contributors for their efforts

I think what has led to my choice (wait for it...) was a mix of hints from two key posts.

One is:

My suggestion, following the 'Handyman', 'Engineer' kind of naming scheme.

The Builder.

OR the Blue Builder.

Or the Big, bodacious, beautiful, blue builder of bonafide bass-a$$ness.

And the other one:

You've got all the tools of an older Ranger, pre-backside tools.

You add components of the Explorer and the pliers.

Alox scales. Pliers are useful for metal work. Rangers are also scouts, explorers.

Blue scales, could be a nod to the blue of the forge's flame and/or to blued steel.

HEAVY METAL RANGER.

So... where does that get us?

Alox- That is a no-brainer. It simply needs to be part of the name on principle alone.
Blue- Yup. I chose blue for a reason - of the three most economically available PXes on the 'net I thought this was the best colour, possibly barring red, but then for that I have the MTO PX.
Builder- I like the connotation of construction, but the Bob connotation sounded a tad belittling, not fitting for the massive monster I ended up with...
Heavy Metal- certainly that is an apt description; on the other hand, as part of a longer name it would make it very long indeed. Also (sorry magentus) I am not a metal fan - if anything, the predecessor in the form of classic hard rock fits my music sense better - sign of my age?
Also, I wanted it to stand out from the crowd in the sense that it was modded to include a few extras... some people have used "Deluxe" for that, which I like too.

See next post for the solution...
Cheers!

Now, to the winner.

That is a difficult one. Both the above posts were equally important and instrumental in the chain of thought leading to the name.

I've had to draw. The winner is:

-------------------------------

Wait a minute...

I've decided to do this the :MTO: way.

BOTH, of course! >:D  :tu: :tu:

Congratulations Lynn and ironraven, you will both soon be in receipt of a new, lightly modded Pioneer (ex-Farmer)!

So: the remark below applies to both of you:

Can the winners please PM their address so that I can get the package on its way? Thanks :tu:

(I had to split and modify the post for technical reasons involving the overuse of spoilers, which is why kottskrapa's post is between the first and the rest :D)

Thanks guys

By the way:

So...

Alox Cobalt Deluxe Constructor

(The abbreviation, as you may have noticed, is a nod to hard rock of the antipodean variety :D)

Accepted short forms are:
Cobalt Constructor (nick name CoCo  >:D), or simply,
Constructor

I can tell you, this was not easy. I was sorely tempted by one or two other suggestions.
For instance, honourable mentions go to styx and/or magentus for "Holy Smurf".
Cheers!

Great name and a great band! Congrats to the winners.

For the record Holy Smurf wasn't my suggestion, I was applauding Styx who actually came up with it.
