LM crunch knife less / LM wave scissors mod HOW TO

In  the  Uk  you  aren't  allowed  to  carry  locking  blades  of  any  size So  most  leatherman  multitools  can't  be  used  for  edc I  decided  to  make  my  LM  crunch  knife  less  and  fit  scissors  instead. After  asking  a  Lot  of  questions  on  this  excellent  forum Dutch_tooler  came  up  with  a  great  idea  of  fitting  the  scissors  of  a  LM  wave. And  than  fit  the  file  where  the  blade  goes  and  remove  the  lanyard  ring attachment,  and  fit  the  scissors  where  the  file  and  lanyard  ring  were. So  after  finding  loki-mobile  and  buying  some  from  him,  it  was  just  waiting For  the  scissors  to  arrive,  so  I  was  thinking  of  doing  a  How  to  with  pictures This  is  what  I  came  up  with.  I  got  it  down  from  54  photos  down  to  35  photos.
I  tried  but  can't  get  it  any  less  than  35  photos. It  wasn't  all  straight  forward  so  I  also  included  the  bits  that  didn't  go  well Which  mainly  was  the  spring  plate,  I'm  still  working  on  a  new  one  piece spring  plate  made  from  stainless  steel.


Tools  used: Dremel  with  cutting  discs  and  sanding  drums,vernier calipers, Needle  file  set, Fine  line  marker  pen, Needle and thread, Masking  tape, Loki  wrenches, Sak, Vice, Emery  cloth  (sand  paper), Tig  welder  (not  needed)

Now my lm crunch is finished I'm really happy with the results  :tu:
All I want to work on is the new spring plate and see if I can get that to work

All along I thought it was a simple drop in.. Using the tweezer was brilliant! Glad you got it to work.  :like:
Merit Badges Must post a step by step pictorial of a knife or MT Mod, done by you that includes changing the main chassis of the tool in a significant way. By machining, welding or cutting original design to accept new tool loads. Requests will be reviewed.

Brilliant ideas with the thread (analogous to Ariadne's from Greek mythology) as well as using the tweezers for a spring. Pity the welding went awry - maybe you can simply leave the tweezer spring in?
Good job overall - my initial assessment, of a simple drop-in with minor modifications needed only on the handle, was off by quite a bit it seems :doh:

Yes there was a bit more work involved, but nothing difficult
I'm keeping the tweezer spring for now,
it works really well with the tweezer Spring  :like:
But I am going to make a new Spring plate, as I'm interested to see if I can make it work  :think:
