Hey

I'm a new member. As a show of good faith i just donated 5$.

I'm seeking advice on how to sell the knife i just purchased. Or maybe keep.

Here is a link to the auction i won (Danish auction), with pictures:
https://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/victorinox-pioneer-damast-limited-edition-2010/i6088860/
There were several other high end Victorinox lots happening at the same time... I'm guessing a collector passed on his collection.

I will receive the knife via post in a few days.

I've read online different places that this knife is quite valuable.
Is it true that this knife can have a value of 3.550 USD?

Should I sell it, can it be done on this forum... Or maybe ebay.com?

Would you guys keep it as an investment.?
It seems to increase in value a lot.

What do you think of my new knife?

Wow - You got an absolute bargain.

As I am sure you know thiis was the first ever Vic Dmascus model and they only made 2010
https://sakwiki.com/tiki-index.php?page=Victorinox+Damascus+Limited+Editions

You could possibly sell it for 5 to 10 times what you paid for it rigt now.
And it willl only increase in value - There are some crazy collectors out there and this model is higly desireable

We have a buy and sell board on this site - But the price may be beyond what folks here can afford!

Welcome on board

My first thought, why did you buy it?  I was also thinking you knew it was something special,  yes?

As to what to do with it  :dunno:.  Welcome.

Thanks for the replies, guys.

Well, I'm a knife guy myself, not enthuseast, though.
I've sometimes bought a couple of thing of that action-site, and I noticed that knife for sale, around 4 days before the auction closed.
I wasn't very interested to begin with... I wanted a meatier knife.

A couple of days later, I was watching youtube reviews on the Victorinox Hunter Pro knife.
I noticed how the reviewer talked about Victorinox collectors and stuff... He seamed really passionate about it.

The next day again, i was back on the auction site, just browsing, and I noticed several other Victorinox lots going... All the knives had the same keychange ring.
Among them was for example the biggest swiss army knife from 2008.

I then made the first bid of 1.000 DKK... I thought that was a fair price for a damascus knife.
After my first bid I started researching... and was astonished by the prices mentioned.
Then i saw one on ebay for 25.000 DKK.

I only competed with one other customer for the bid.
It felt like a gamble, but all my research showed it was a good buy :)

I'll return later... Picking up the kids.

Congrats on snagging such a bargain!

I don’t really collect LEs like this, but I’d keep it if you have the space or ability to keep it.

If the funds would simply serve you better, my only suggestion is to take lots of clear pics for the listing or auction.

Best of luck with your decision!  Sounds like a good problem to have!  :tu: :)

Thank you for your answers.

I'm becomming more and more inclined to keep it.... My wife, not so much  :D
The knife is only 11 years old! Yet the value increase is huge, on a year to year basis... God knows what it would go for in 10 years from now.
Also, I like knives.

Looking at the pictures, the knife looks like it's in great shape and unmolested. I have a good feeling about it.
I'm confident it comes from a passionate collector.
When I open the paper-lid, I'm guessing all the papers are underneath there.

When some action lot doesn't sell, tey'll rerun it.
here is one rerun which ends in 4 days, from the same collector I pressume, based on keyring:

https://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/samling-victorinox-lommeknive-34/i6086253/

This one ends in 20 hours from now... Probably from same place... Exactly the same keyrings.
https://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/samling-victorinox-lommeknive-60/i6088767/

All the other lots have been sold, such as:
https://www.lauritz.com/da/auktion/samling-victorinox-lommeknive-40/i6089494/

I will update here when I get the knife

So... Here it is. Arrived today.

It looks really good. Don't think it has ever been sharpened.
I'm afraid my phone camera doesn't do it justice.
The case also looks good, and I think all the papers are there.

I will try to provide some better images this evening. A little busy today

I must say that I have a new appreciation of Victorinox knives.
I've owned several Vics before, all of them red with the plasting handles.

This one just feels so nice in my hand. I love the alox handles and the general feel in my hand.
This is the first alox i've ever held... It's just super nice. I'm pretty sure i'll buy a 93mm alox for myself as a daily cary.
My current daily carry is a fallkniven U2.

I have for the past 3 years used a "red standard" victorinox as my shaving knife, actually. I like sharpening knives on stones and the Vic gets wicked sharp
