Vintage SAK as EDC?

I'm wondering who has the oldest SAK that is part of their EDC rotation, as opposed to just being under glass in a collection?  I still carry my 40 year old Explorer (my first SAK I bought when I was 15).  I just bought a 1955 SAK, but it will probably go into a display case. Anyone carrying an older model?  Please post pics of your vintage EDC!

It's so cool that you still have your old Explorer.
I did carry this old one for a while but right now I only EDC new ones.

There is no better feeling than carry a vintage SAK soldier in your pocket. Firstly i thought that i would keep'em under glass, but than i realized that those are meant to be carried and used.
When i use them I try to be careful, (never hard use), trying to do least damage and I never give'em to nobody. So far i have only 2 vintage Wenger soldiers. 50 and 55.
Sometimes i like to EDC a new one (usually a Pioneer x or swisschamp) depends on my daily duties.

Back in 1988 after graduation, I bought my first genuine Victorinox Swiss Army knife - a Super Tinker. After a lot of carry, a lot of damage and a lot of subsequent repair, I still carry it sometimes. It's not 40, like your, but it's 30.

Over the summer I bought some SAKs at a flea market. A 1990 (?) Metal inlay Boy Scout Tinker and a 1974 Mountaineer. I pocket carry the BSA Tinker regularly and the Mountaineer is almost always in my day pack. So I guess my daily carry is usually between 28 and 44 years old, depending. Sometimes I rotate in my 2012 Tinker Deluxe or my 2017 Camper II. Both good knives, but without some history behind them, somehow not as much fun carrying those.

I was recently given a brand new Pioneer, which has replaced all others this past week, though the Mountaineer remains where it is in my pack.

Nice, Barry. Among other things, a1969 Soldier with WaffenKontrol stamp is on my "one of these days" list. As I understand it, those days they still didn't have the shield and cross as we now know it.

Very nice oldies, Doc and Deedee. One of these days I'd like to get a WWII or mid -50's SAK, just to have something so close to the original, pre cellidor.

I actually love the design and asthetic of vintage knives. Ulli from the forum has offered to send me a 1908 model with busted scales. After some polishing and refurbishment I plan on it becomming my edc. As someome else on the forum said, its a great way to honour the knife and maker and previous generations who used them.

Some great old SAK you gents have.  Its really nice tho know they are seeing some pocket time and use.  The oldest SAK I carry and use is a Ribbed Cadet 2 in red.  It came to be battered so I felt there would be nothing I'd do to damage it further.

unless it has sentimental value I don't retire tools that are still good EDCs.
I carry an Explorer and Swisschamp made before I was born very often,
but my grandfather's Swisschamp is retired and properly taken care of at a safe place  :salute:

I carry this 49 Wenger Soldier from time to time.
Its not the most useful tool though. The blade is excellent, but the flat driver is a bit big and thick for most modern screws.

I don't have very old knives, but I do use my Elinox secretary sometimes, not often though as it is a bit redundant with my EDC. (Their phone number has changed, they should do a new run.

My EDC is a 89-90 (prehook) SwissChamp that some may consider a bit old (and unusual as SwissChamps go) for consistent carry though, but it's and old user with no special history, maybe once I've made enough of that I'll retire it, probably not though, most likely I'll give it to a family member to use if I get a newer model.

Elsener did make a couple variants based on the 100mm Soldier that had a smaller screwdriver that would likely fit a modern Phillips screw.  However, like most variants on the 100mm Soldier frame, I haven't seen one in the flesh--just a knife similar to the Farmer, which added a saw.  I was lucky to have found my 1942 Elsener for under $20.

The oldest SAK I presently own is a late 60s-early 70s Champion B, and I carry it from time to time.  I love carrying and using vintage/discontinued SAKs.

After I give this a good cleaning, and refurbishing, I will be carrying this 84mm Artisan/Fieldmaster I just picked up for $10 this past weekend. I think its a mid to late 60s model.
