fire starting
on: February 19, 2018, 06:07:01 AM
hey all

not been about for a while but still an ardent fan a edc a swiss champ and 'card

I also have a love of stoves and have been trying to resolve an irritation of carrying some form of firestarter, I carry a a mini bic in my coin pocket but have found that it often runs out getting depressed when not in use

I carry my champ on a belt hanger but had recently purchased a 80x8mm firesteel which fits nicely in the side pocket of a leather pouch along with a maglite solitaire, I didn't want to go this route however as I preferring the hanger

I've have just found the 'firefly' on kickstarter, a firesteel that replaces the toothpick, bloody awesome

anyway, thought some may be interested:

no affiliation just excited

:)

ps - apologies if it is already known, didn't come up on a forum search

Back when I was doing a lot of backwoods, long haul backpacking I always carried a Bic in a small zippy in my pocket and another in my backpack. I've never had any trouble getting sparks from a ferrorod using the edge of my Vic awl/reamer.
