How "collectable" is Marlboro?
on: February 22, 2018, 05:31:37 AM
I know that collectability is in the eye of the beholder, but I saw a recent post where a Knight was asking the best way to remove the Marlboro logo from his new SAK.  Many fellow Knights admonished him to leave it, as it would increase the collectability of the knife.  Really?  There must be millions of SAKs with corporate logos on them.  Why would a SAK with a Marlboro logo be more collectable than some other corporate logo?

Because the Marlboro Unlimited ones have models that are now discontinued and seldom seen on other corporate logo branded SAKs...

These are the SAK equivalent of blood diamonds! I'm sure nobody took up smoking just to win a Marlboro penknife, but I am sure a lot of second hand Marlboro SAKs are second hand because the original owner croaked prematurely.
Definitely worth keeping the logo cos these are interesting SAKs - not just because of their unique toolsets, but also in terms of marketing, morality, and mortality! Someone might have died for that SAK!

Same here. The morbid side of me craves one now. The outdoorsman looked like a really nice lineup too!

The Outdoorsman is a Woodsman with a fish scaler.  Great tool set and Marlboro only.
