This dumb idea just won't get out of my head, so I'll inflict it on you all.

A mascot for the site, named 'Nutty'.

With a tagline "Because we've all got some screws loose".

He looks so happy!  :D

And why shouldn't he be? He's got a mutitool and a screw loose. Perfect combination. So, when can we buy the self-referential caps? ;)

I wanted to be a comicbook artist for a long time. I haven't really done any hand drawn art for a while, and while i wanted to be a comic book artist, I'm not all that great as a cartoony kind of artist.

This is more the kind of stuff I do...

Chimera! That's quite cool, Lynn.

On topic, does Nutty have an OG Gerber MultiPlier?

That is cool, Lynn! Nutty about sums up a majority of MT users here.

You'll definitely need a separate mascot for those sak-only and/or "minimalist" members here though.  :D :pok:

I'll sing up to if Lynn is doing 'em

Actually Lynn there are other styles of comics where your drawing style would be amazing. And it would be a shame that the talent and /or time you've spent getting better just go unused

When I was in my mid-20s, I did some small press comic stuff. Mostly, I worked as the colorist. I got good enough that I was invited to Wildstorm studios (part of Image Comics) for a try-out as a colorist. This was about 8 months before the entire industry essentially collapsed.

So... Some years later, after the collapse of the IT industry in about 2001, i went about teaching myself 3d modelling, and eventually got an internship at a video game company, building and texturing 3d models for a MMO videogame. I wasn't hired after 6 months of basically giving them free work. Then after about 6 years more work on my own, I got a 2-week gig doing starship renders, and deck plans for a supplement to the 'Serenity' role playing game called 'Six-shooters and Spaceships'.

That work looked like this...

It was based on models I'd painstakingly made over the course of YEARS as a fan. Untold countless hours of research to be as close to screen-accurate as possible. But, if you guys go out and look, you might find copies of that book still for sale. My name's right on it as co-author and everything.

I'm sure there's a way to make something even slightly close to minimum wage doing art. I know people do it. I know there are people who have managed to make a good living doing it. Me? No matter how hard I try, it hasn't earned me jack squat, for MASSIVE hours spent trying to break into the industry. Same with writing. Not that I'm bitter or anything.
