Leatherman Charge Plus TTI
on: February 28, 2018, 09:50:12 AM
Hi, I just saw that in Leatherman website they have a new Charge plus tti. Is that true ? Because I don’t see any difference between the plus tti and the regular tti. Even the text on the multi tool is Charge titanium without the “plus” like the wave plus..
so there is a really new tti out there ? Even in Amazon I can’t find it.. thanks !

Yes but what is the difference in the tti model? I know what is on tha new wave but the tti looks the same and even the text on it not contained “plus” like the new wave plus..

Just the pliers head with replaceable cutters.  The pic here shows it quite clearly: https://www.leatherman.com/charge-tti-7.html

That all?
I mean it is worth it ?
I found Charge tti in 128$
Charge + tti cost 169$.
What should I buy?
Or should I get the wave plus. I need it for army.

Well, that depends...  How much do you value the replaceable the cutters - do you often cut hard wire?  Does the (possible) weakness in the pliers head bother you?  What if your $170 multitool got lost/broken/stolen?  Do you like things made from Ti?  Do you need the S30V main blade and gut hook on the TTi?  Have you got lots of disposable income?  Lots of variables to think about.

Replaceable cutters I don’t think that I really need one.
Yes I like titanium.
I think S30V will be great.
The wave main blade is not good ?

What is the most recommended multi tool for army?

Wave blade is just fine.  TTi blade is 'nicer' and lasts longer between sharpening but doesn't cut any differently.  The gut hook on the serrated blade is useful sometimes.

What is the most recommended multi tool for army?

Not much of a clue, sorry.  Maybe the Gerber MP600 as it's indestructible. :D  Or the Victorinox Spirit for the best balance of tools (I love the awl, long philips and the scraper/chisel) for a utility MT.  Or the Wave for all-round ability.

If it were me I would choose a Wave (plus or not ;) ) for the army :salute: Tti is nice and all but for what you might put it throught the Wave should be what you are looking for :salute:

Also welcome to :MTO:

Also with regular pricing the Tti and Tti plus are very similar in price but you can find deals on the regular model wereas you won't find a deal on the plus due to it's newness :salute:

I would recommend the Wave + for military use. The blade is very easy to sharpen in the field.

Or a BO Rebar would do as well  :tu:

Another plus 1 for the wave for military use (although I carried the original wave). Gear goes missing so don't buy anything you can't afford to replace.

For the money, the "Charge AL Prep Kit" gives you the best bang for your bucks.

There's not much you can do with the TTi over the Wave.  The TTi/Wave Plus add replaceable wire cutters adn if you wont be utilizing them then its not worth the price IMO.  The S30V blade is nice I'll admit that but keep in mind the 420 on the Wave is no slouch.  If titanium is something you dig and S30V, then by all means go for it.  I carry a Charge TTi for work and love it.  I was a former Wave user but the S30V brought me over.  Good luck with your choice.
