Surge badge attempt
on: March 03, 2018, 03:45:24 PM
Alright, let's take a whack at this merit badge. I've had my Surge for a year or two now and have carried it on and off for some time. It's had some pocket time for the past week of so, so let's see if I can get by with just the Surge for a month.

Day 1
Surge makes up part of my daily tool kit these days. This will be interesting to see how it handles being wet/covered in fish oil and slime for 30 days or so

I’m interested to see how it will hold up to fish guts and the like for 30 days.  :tu:

Been off forums for some time, so I'm relearning the image-posting techniques. Thanks for the heads up; I'll size 'em up going forward. I just didn't want to upload them too large. The knife is just one of the el cheapo commercial ones that my job has on hand. There's a company that comes in every Friday morning and swaps them out for another poorly-sharpened, albeit cleaner batch. My store, being grocery retail, is fairly hard on knives (among other things).

Yesterday was pretty hectic, so I didn't get a chance to post this. The store finally calmed down around 7:30pm, so I had a chance to get a few small projects done before my day off today  :drink:

This glove holder was hanging off the showcase, so someone attempted to fix it with a screw that was almost three times too long. Since I know that I will continue to forget, as I have for a few weeks now, to grab a better-fitting screw from my garage at home, I decided to at least 3/4-arse it and use the Bosch metal saw blade I keep in the blade exchanger to trim the screw down to size and then refit the glove holder.

I hope everybody is having a good weekend so far!

Day 2

It's not even 11am here and I've already been an "adult" and knocked a few things off of the To Do list. We've been in this house for almost 3 years and I finally managed to install this sliding drawer thingy in the cabinet next to the stove. Surge did most of the work. Should have taken pics of the awl reaming out holes in the HDPE shims I had to make to give the drawer clearance. I'm sure you guys can imagine it haha

We have some friends coming over later, as their power is still out. I'm sure the Surge will be on bottle-opening duty.

Tonight is a later night than usual these days, considering my work and class schedules. Good time with some good friends. The Surge got to handle some of the bottle-opening duty.

Day 3

So I apparently forgot that yesterday was Sunday and that I needed to be at work at 6am today. Fortunately it was a very slow day today, as I was not quite as productive as usual.

The name of the game today was hydrate haha

Day 4
I have the day off and a relatively short Honey-Do list  :tu:
Got around to modding my Surge to lock the large driver and bit driver at a 90º angle for tightening fasteners in tight spaces.

Day 5

Weather turned nasty here in NY, so I left work early. Snow day beverage while waiting for the snow to calm down. That's some heavy, wet snow out there. Hope everyone else's weather is better than here!

We ended up with 7ish inches by me. I'm about 45min north of NYC, so we got a little harder than the folks closer to/in the city. My inlaws in PA got almost 15"  :o

Just finished the last of the driveway. That was some heavy, slushy stuff.

Day 6
Cut open come cases of fish this morning to set up the department. Also used the surge to cut some paper liners for metal pans we display fish cakes/burgers and other small items in. Fun times. So far it's been holding up just fine with all the water and fish grossness. The Surge is in better shape than me, come quitting time.  ::)
