I was digging around in a long forgotten box looking for some bicycling gear when I ran across this knife.  It was given to me by a supplier when I was still in the floor coverings industry.

The blade is 2 3/8 inches long, the handle is 3 inches.  On the blade are the words Imperal Ireland Stainless.  The handle appears to be rosewood.  The R logo is from Roberts Consolidated, a company that markets floor covering installation tools and supplies.  the DE logo is a mystery.

I don't know much about knives and I have no idea about the quality of this knife, but its always fun to find a blade that you didn't remember you had.

One Japanese lockback, bought nearly 25 years ago.

A tourist oriented folding knife, non locking, bought from Crete probably 20 years ago.

I've got me a little collection of Kershaw Flippers going :)

These are becoming very hard to come by here in Australia, thanks to our Orwellian laws, so I've been grabbing them while they're available locally.

Top to bottom:

Junkyard Dog II
Turbulence
OSO Sweet
Volt II
Skyline

The Turbulence, OSO Sweet and Volt II are Speedsafe assisted, and with the flipper they open lighting fast :D

The JYD II and OSO Sweet are my favourites - and the nicest to hold. The Skyline is amazingly light.

I hope to add more to this collection as time goes by, but any local listings on eBay are already going for 2-3 times the RRP (MSRP)

Note to self, when going to Australia smuggle in Kershaw flippers to pay for the trip.  :D

My first venture into heavy duty folding knives, and with 4 mm VG10 blade, 5 mm Ti handle, weighting in at 7 oz/200 g, it sure feels like it. F&F isn't perfect if scrutinized, but for the material/price I certainly isn't complaining. Not sure if I'll carry it, it weights about twice as much as my usual choices.

Well, sort of.  I decided to shorten it because it was way too long to carry.  It is better now.  I am debating making it look a little better as is or making new wood handles for it.  I really like it but it's just way too long.

Hmmm, I'd be inclined to totally drop the handle and cord-wrap the tang to make it a small fixed blade of sorts... Heck, it would even have a hole (pivot) to pass the cord through to stabilize the wrap! :think: Any beater Svord owners willing to part with one of theirs?

Mind if I start calling you "enabler" (and other names)? Heh... :P

Let me put it this way: I'd never edc this, so it is delegated to my "wacky experiments" budget and thus limited to <€10... Hence, the call for a _beater_... :P (yeah, I'm cheap, I know... ::) :D)

BTW it just dawned on me that friction folders are just small fixed blades with a rotating sheath... :-\ :think:

Sparky, those handles look nice.  Are they shorter than the original?  Did you shorten the blade as well?  I don't want to polish mine, I like the rough look.  It sharpens very easily.

@Nikos,
They call me worse things   :D
I have boxes full of crap for "wacky experiments" and I do understand your budget (I feel guilty now    :-[ )
Friction folders are not too hard to make, I used old butchers/kitchen knives

Yep just a blade

@Trey
Thanks   :tu:
Its just a little shorter
I got it second hand, I didn't like the scales or finger choil the previous owner had made so I remade it
The cutting length is less than 3 inches now because of the Choil which makes it legal to carry in the UK (in theory)
