They look great Dave  :tu:

I like the idea of the ones with the bit driver in but then you might as well throw in the pliers and carry a Skeletool!

Yep - couldn't agree more Nuphoria and Gareth, and therefore I don't!

The K500x does have a carabiner / bottle opener, but it totally disappears into the handle, unlike the others with more features. I.e. you can easily forget it's there. You can see in the following pic that the carabiner is well hidden and doesn't add any bulk:

Of course the blade on this baby is a hell of a lot bigger than the Skeletool too!
I used to come here a lot.

I had to wonder if the sage is meant to replace caly 3, given the rumor of caly 3 being discontinued.

I'm not to sure.  The Sage models are in recognition of different knifemaker's contribution to the knife industry. The Sage 1 is in recognition of knifemaker Michael Walker for his creation of the LinerLock and ball bearing detent method of locking.  The Sage 2 is a tribute to Chris Reeve and features a integral lock.

I just haven't arrived at the point yet where I can shell out two bills for a knife yet.  :-\  But it's sure alot
cheaper than the ever so popular Sebenza.

It's quite smooth. If you want traction you'll be disappointed, I'd say it's about the same amount as the plastic shell on computer monitors. But I like it that way, consider this is a small light/medium duty knife, and the CF texture really shows up under light when the surface is smooth. If it wasn't pinned I'd take it apart and polish it.

Ben,

I really like the look of that well used Voyager.  Those knives have been around for years.
They take me back to another time.  I've really got to pick one up.  I'm thinking a 4 inch blade.
With some knives reaching high "$" points lately I've been checking out and buying knives well under
the $100 mark and have not disappointed.

Although they aren't cheap cheap, they do offer great bang for the buck.

true enough.

Was wondering though... looking at the blade designs of the Voyager series when closed does the blade sit
above the zytel handle or does it actually rest on it?

It sits above.

I have managed to put a small groove in the zytel from playing ninja a bit too vigorously though.  :D

that can happen I guess.  :)
What keeps it above the handle?  Is it the lockback bar shape or perhaps handle shape?
Looking at the blade it seems so flat all along it's length right from the pivot to
the tip.

The lockbar is shaped so it just misses it.  Only just though I expect.

Ok thanks.  I see my Outdoor Edge Field Lite is much the same and seems to just miss
it as well.  I think the front part of the lock bar is shaped to help on it.
