I almost always carry more than one knife. Usually a SAK and another, non-multitool knife. At the moment and for the past few years it has usually been my Swisschamp in a belt pouch and some kind of traditional folder in a pocket. For a few years before that, it was my Deluxe Tinker or my Super Tinker in a pocket and a lockblade hunter or a fixed blade on my belt. Sometimes I carry a Nite Eyes XL utility pouch on my off side, containing my Swisstool, a flashlight and a couple of smaller tools.
So yes, I'm pretty much Batman!

A Compact with a Cybertool extra layer would be great from Victorinox but not paying modders $200 or more to make one

Just thinking about this again with these latest posts!!
For me the perfect SAK has to be the
SwissChamp
- You have every tool, and can cover so much with that toolset - and I feel complete, competent, and fully capable if I carry it ..... But do I often carry it?
.... Not often - It's just a bit too big
So I think the OP proposition is correct, as the 'perfect SAK' involves needs, preference, tools and size - and carry method - and even the type of day eg DIY day at home at the weekend or in the office .... it's pretty different!
So of course there is no perfect SAK for everyone .... The interesting question is "Is there even a perfect SAK for any one individual?"

Yeah what I consider perfect changes from time to time and even from one day to the next.

currently carrying a Compact because it's summer and it carries lightly in shorts and with a SwissCard Nailcare in the wallet and an Alox MiniChamp on the keyring. I prefer not to carry SAK's over 3 layers because they are too bulky in my pocket. Once it's Autumn I will switch out the Compact for the vintage Alox Soldier.

I agree. There is no perfect SAK. A smart marketing move which accounts for the fact that many of us own quite a few SAKs looking the SAK that is just right lol. The Swisschamp and Explorer Plus come closest for me, and as I’ve adjusted my thinking over the years, really just may be.

The more I think about my main uses of a SAK, if I were going to custom make a SAK with the tools I use most while keeping it as compact as possible…I’d select the two standard blades, the scissors and the inline Phillips. Then I’m reminded that I’ve needed the large flathead pretty regularly through the years and more recently as my eyesight ages, I’ve needed a magnifying glass…which pretty much brings me back to the Explorer as my perfect SAK lol. For everything else there is the Swisschamp.

As a former Huntsman carrier - I realised I hardly use the saw day to day - Of course great when outdoors on hikes etc etc
And I suddenly found that the mag glass is extremely useful for the reasons above
- Which BTW, years ago, I thought was a bit if a joke to have that tool on a SAK
How wrong was I !!

I think the “perfect SAK” varies by both person and occasion/activity, so as the title says there is no perfect SAK.
As much as I love the Yeoman for edc and think it is perfect for my day-to-day uses, it isn’t the tool I want on me for outdoor activities. When go hiking or camping, I prefer the Farmer X or Outrider.
