Leatherman Sideclip Blade
on: March 07, 2018, 10:21:41 AM
G'day

This may be a long shot. I am looking for a Leatherman Sideclip blade please. I don't really want to pull a perfectly good tool apart for the mod.

I want to do a mod to a Crunch by exchanging the serrated blade for a plain edge one.

Shipping to Oz please.

Cheers, Pete

Have you contact Leatherman to see if they can install a new one for you?
Enjoy!

Not really. It is to long and will foul against the wire stripper tabs. The Sideclip and the Crunch blade is the same length. I will need to do some modification to it to accommodate the locking mechanism.

Both tools I have are near new. My Sideclip is the first full size Leatherman I bought and it has a lot of sentimental value. I am not going to pull it apart.  And I think asking Leatherman to install a Sideclip blade in a Crunch will go against their policy of modification of tools, and they may not have one either.

I will continue looking. A fellow on our local Buy and Sell site has a "marked" (judging from the pics - rusted) one for trade and refused an offer of $50 from someone else. I don't think the tool is worth more than $20, and if he refused the $50 he certainly will not take my $20.  :).

Cheers,

Pete

Well good luck , I doubt you will find a loose Sideclip blade. Sideclips are pricey even here in the US. Seems to me your best bet would be to modify a PST blade or maybe even a SOG blade as they are compatible with LM's at least in pivot size and shape.

Or how about regrinding the SE into a PE.

Yea I am doubtful, but always worth a try.  I will even pay for a tool that is in bad shape as long as the blade is good.

I will have a look at the SOG blades to see if they have a short version.

I don't have the tools to re-grind the blade or re-shape a PST one.
