Dating the classic?
on: March 09, 2018, 04:28:24 PM
Sooo, the little black advertising classic I found and cleaned up is now back in daily service. The new scissors spring arrived from Victorinox, and although it was my first scissors spring replacement, it was pretty easy.

I'm wondering howled this little SAK is. It has the scissors screw pivot instead of rivet, and the old tang stamp. When did they stop using the scissors screw?
Don't get too serious, just enough will do.

Huntsman's spreadsheet for the 91mm has 1992 as the year the scissors went from screw to rivet, but I don't know if that holds true for the 58mm.

It should give you a ballpark, though.

Also, I recently did MY first scissor spring replacement as well. I understand that if the hole for the spring has a chamfer, it's an easy process. Mine did not, and was a complete smurf trying to get done. Glad yours was an easy replacement.  :tu:
