on: September 18, 2019, 01:44:54 PM
Hi,
I have been looking for any Swiss Soldier Knife 08 with any crest (Indicating that it was issued to swiss government)
Price is not a problem for me.

Thanks

As far as I know, the markings showing that a Soldier was issued to the Swiss forces was no longer added since somewhere in the 80's IIRC.

So a 2008 Soldier issued to the army or sold on the private market will not show any differences.

No there are some knives (I have seen in some collections) that have extra crest other than the shield on the scale of the Swiss Soldier 08 I memory serves me the crest has " Peace keepers" or something like that.

Hmm, I wonder if that was some sort of special issue?   Otherwise, I agree with Mechanickal that the issued (Model 1961) and civilian market (Soldier) knives were indistinguishable.

Edit -- I assumed you were looking for a Model 1961, but maybe you have the Model 2008 in mind?

If you find one, please post a picture on the main SAK forum.  Good luck!

Myron

I have made a quick search and found a pic that belongs to a fellow member (glenfiddich1983) that he posted a while ago in a thread.

You can see a Swiss Soldier 08 with an 'extra" crest or marking (top raw, fifth one from the right).

Hope this clarifies it  :tu:

Well that crest means it was issued to a special division of the army.
There are multiple armies who issue the Soldier platform nowadays and some include the branch logo or a general armed forces logo.

Anyway, the crest means it's not just a general issued Soldier and was meant for that specific branch only.
They are way harder too find, so good luck on the hunt!
