SOG BlackTip - Extra Heavy Duty MT
on: March 12, 2018, 06:31:29 PM
Recently I mentioned in a thread about HD SOG MTs, that SOG Blacktips were too expensive and kind of implied it seemed like a specialized function-specific tool. Well, I never had an idea how awesome the Blacktip actually was. One man here at MT.o did know(as he EDCs a BT often)! He was kind enough to send a Blacktip across the world! He only asked that I reimburse shipping. Thank you very much, ThePeacent! That was a very generous thing to do and I will be sure to pay the kindness forward soon!

So, to the point, this thing is so much bigger and well made than expected! Not only are the handles longer, but the pliers are huge and very well machined.
I am looking forward to trying beauty out soon!
A few pics, with more to come!

Tried for an hour to get a good photo and cannot tell if they are decent or not. Wish I could get that reflection out of the Duo blade in one of them,
Will try again sometime next week outside during the day when I am off.

It really helps that I work at an antique store/fleamarket (people bring in all kinds of stuff). Or is 'helps' the right word?
Ex. My first SOG was the mint PowerPlier. I looked it up on ebay for him and told him the value. He asked for MUCH less than that. That is what started the SOG collection. :)

It seems so funny now that my username seems to indicate I only collect Gerber and Leathermans.  It must confuse new members to see the SOG, Vic, Bear, CRKT, and other MTs in a "gerleatherberman" post.
It is a testament to the allure and quality of so many fine MT makers making their way into the collection. SOG and Vic being the standout brands that keep the collection growing. :)

I suggest "BE SO VILMGE",  to catch the five brands with two letters each (how do we add CRKT then?  :ahhh)

Thank you, Sparky! It is probably one of the collest MTs I have seen. Not the most practical, but it is seriously cool!
