Vic Original Traveller info Request
on: March 16, 2018, 09:53:58 PM
New here so kinda feeling my way around.  I have perfect, like  new, never out of the box, Victorinox original  Traveller knife that I am trying to decide rather to sell or keep.  The original box is like new and has the original instruction sheet.  I know this knife has been out of production for a number of years, but know very little else.  I would appreciate any info concerning the market for a knife such as this and if anyone has an idea of value, that would be interesting.  Thanks in advance for ant help.

Welcome to the MTO forum Old school!

The original Travellers production was stopped in the 80's. It can be confused with the Climber which has a keyring.
eBay would be your best friend to give you an idea of the current value. It might sell around 20 - 40 $.

Others here know better than I.
Here's a pic of mine..

Do you have some pics you can share?

Welcome Old School.  I'm surprised that no one has responded yet, that's unusual for this forum.
When you say an "original" Traveller, you mean without the digital clock?
The current Traveller (with clock) runs $100 - $150.
If the older model, that would depend on condition.  The fact that you have the box and instructions would increase it's value to a collector.

Pictures are a big help, and often requested here.

(looks like someone just beat me to the first post.)

This knife was purchased new by a friend of mine in Switzerland in 1989 and just acquired this year as a gift.  The box had never been opened until I did recently just to look at it.  I does not have a blemish or scratch on it.  I found some info on the net that helped me identify it as the original Traveller ( The scissors have the double spring and a screw at the pivot).  I have a number of knives but am not a collector so I thought I might as well see if someone had a space in their collection for a perfect specimen like this.  I found it interesting reading some of the posts here and doing a bit of research on my knife.  Thanks for the welcome.
Photos will come as soon as I figure out how to down size them to allowable size.

The Original Traveller does not have a keyring.
Otherwise it would be a Climber.

See my examples above.

Indeed.
That's the only difference.

Even though some people might like such an old specimen (has it got a groved corkscrew too?) It's not a toolset that's not offered any more.
Don't expect prices to sling out of orbit.

Have you ever concidered carrying it and joining us? :pok:
