Wingman pieces on a Brookstone pruner
on: March 17, 2018, 08:57:28 PM
What’s up fellas. Something a bit different. Came across these Brookstone pruner tools on clearance for $5. Backsprings are really weak and we’ll see about tool quality once it gets some use, but tool set is really good for landscaping and lawn work. There was a large key ring attachment and lots of empty space next to the weed digger. Swappped in the drivers from the wingman...just had to use the wingman pivot too as Brookstone’s was a smidge too big. Drilled a little hole in the green scale for the little piece at the bottom of the clip to sit in and it actually makes it much sturdier. Excited to give this thing a whirl when the snow melts.

Great buy!  Was it purchased at Brookstone?

I have one.  No Brookstones near me or I would have another one or two.

that I don't generally drool at Wingman mods,

This one doesn't have the rotating handle like the Genus, but I agree it is genius.

Figured I’d follow up on this post. The Brookstone tool is a complete junker and not even worth the $5. Pruners started to get stressed on the third pencil size stick and were broken by the 10th. Wingman drivers were usable but very floppy. Overall, no bueno.

Cool mod though. I wonder if any other pruners can be modded in...
